    • A valve apparatus comprises two housings which can be alternatively connected to one another and separated from one another and possesses an orifice. Each housing holds a flap which is pivotable about an axis of rotation and has a disc and a pivot. The flap can be swivelled into a closed position in which it closes the orifice of the relevant housing at the flat mouth surface of the orifice. Each axis of rotation passes through the mouth area of the relevant housing at an acute angle. Each pivot is pivotably mounted in a hole of the relevant housing, which hole completely surrounds said pivot in cross-section, and is sealed from the housing. This gives a stable support and good sealing of the pivots and, in combination with the discs adjacent to one another when the housings are connected together, makes it possible to avoid contamination of the environment by the transferred material and contamination of the latter by materials present in the vicinity of the housing.

    • A hollow tube attachable at one end to a container of fluid is provided at the other end with an end cap in which is formed a fluid discharge opening through which to transfer fluid. The end cap includes a first portion inserted into the tube, while a second portion remains exterior thereto. A slide valve on the exterior of the tube is biased into a closed position, precluding fluid transfer until the discharge opening is inside a receiving vessel. An air vent passageway in the form of an air vent recess in the outer surface of the first portion of the end cap communicates between the interior of the container and the exterior of the fluid conduit. When the receiving vessel is filled, fluid in the receiving vessel closes entry to the air vent passageway, terminating air flow into the container and stopping fluid flow through the conduit. Capillary sections of reduced cross-sectional area relative that of the air vent passageway are located at either end of the air vent recess. One is formed as an outer air vent aperture through the wall of the tube at the end of the air vent recess remote from the container; the other is formed in the outer surface of the first portion of the end cap at the opposite end of the air vent recess.

    • A liquid pouring spout particularly for automotive fluids such as oil and antifreeze has provision for attachment to multiple container thread sizes, has a in-line valve for shutting off the flow of liquid adjacent to the inlet end of the device, and includes a removable cap for closing the downstream end of the pour spout, captively connected to the pour spout. The pour spout has a flexible portion for permitting bending as desired while pouring the liquids. With the valve and closure cap, the pour spout apparatus eliminates problems of dripping during or after use of the spout. The apparatus can include a funnel with a thread for connection to the pouring spout, for use with containers not having a compatible thread or in other situations where a funnel is desired.

    • A funnel comprises a downwardly tapered generally frustoconical shell and a tube extending along the axis of the shell and having an open lower end adjacent the lower outlet of the shell and an upper end above the upper mouth of the shell. The tube is straight and is formed between its ends with a lateral opening. A pair of arms support a sleeve in the center of the shell which embraces the tube, this sleeve being formed with a downwardly extending skirt surrounding the tube at the level of the lateral opening. The tube is limitedly axially displaceable relative to the shell and is provided at its upper end with a handle engageable with the support sleeve and at its lower end with an upwardly tapered valve body sealingly engageable in the outlet of the funnel so as to prevent fluid flow therefrom. The funnel is filled with a liquid when the valve body is lifted up against the outlet, then the funnel is set on a vessel to be filled and the valve body and tube are lowered in order to allow the liquid to flow out of the outlet opening while allowing air in the vessel to escape upwardly through the tube. Liquid entrained by the upwardly rising air exits from the tube at the lateral opening and does not sprinkle the user.
