    • A device for dispensing a sheetlike object, especially a card with magnetic strip, from a stack has a storage compartment for the stack and an object removal unit on a lower side of the storage compartment. The object removal unit has a conveying element movable back and forth under control perpendicular to the stack, i.e., in dispensing direction (x). According to the invention, the conveying element has a supporting surface concave in dispensing direction (x) and/or convex in a transverse direction (y) which is orthogonal to dispensing direction (x). With an element thus shaped, cards already used and bent in various ways can be reused for automatic card dispensing.

    • A chemical analysis film cartridge has a box-like cartridge body in which a plurality of chemical analysis films are stacked. The chemical analysis films are taken out one by one through a take-out port formed in one end of the cartridge body. The take-out port has a first opening portion which is opened through a first side wall of the cartridge body and through which one chemical analysis film can be passed and a second opening portion which opened through one end face of the cartridge body. A first engagement portion is formed on the outer surface of the first side wall near the first opening portion and a second engagement portion is formed on the outer surface of a second side wall opposed to the first side wall. A capping member having third and fourth engagement portions is removably mounted on the cartridge body to cover the first and second opening portions of the take-out port with the third and fourth engagement portions respectively engaged with the first and second engagement portions. The capping member is provided with a protruding portion which projects into the cartridge body and pushes inside the chemical analysis films away from the first opening portion.

    • A Sheet Feeding System (10) having a reciprocating vacuum shuttle plate (52) includes a knife gate (112) and high-friction rollers 118 and 120 position between the knife gate and an additional conveyor formed by a driven feed roller 94 and an idler feed roller 96. The high-friction rollers form a singulator gap (188) with shoulders 184 of a vacuum-groove (186) on a sheet-engaging surface of the reciprocating shuttle plate. The sheet feeding system includes a transition tray (14) downstream of the additional conveyor for providing a transition to clamps of an endless chain (178). The transition tray comprises an endless conveyor belt (156) with a floating feed roller (160) biased thereagainst. The position of the floating feed roller can be adjusted so as to space it approximately a sheet length from a stationary clamp (176) on the endless chain. The shuttle plate comprises upper panels (76-90), one of which is a vacuum-groove panel (81) which can be interchanged with one another on a shuttle plate frame (74) so that the position of the vacuum-groove panel can be changed. A thumb mechanism 29 provides resistance to falling sheets so that a forward-most sheet (56) has reduced pressure on it.

    • A holder for receiving sheets and discharging sheets therefrom one-by-one from the bottom of a stack of sheets is provided including a carrier having a rear portion, an intermediate portion and a front portion, providing a carrying surface for the sheets, the carrier being bent at the intermediate portion thereof, transverse to the direction of conveyance of the sheets, so as to create a deepened section between the rear portion and the front portion. Lateral supports extend from lateral edges of the carrier, with at least one elevated part provided in the deepened section at the intermediate portion extending transverse to the direction of conveyance on the carrying surface of the carrier. At least one aperture is provided in the carrier near at least one of the lateral supports in the vicinity of the deepened section of the carrier and the elevated part, beneath at least one edge area at a side of the stack of sheets accommodated in the holder, such that a partial vacuum can be produced, by way of the aperture using a vacuum device. A device for introducing and blowing air across the deepened section of the carrier against the side of the stack of sheets creates an air layer between the bottom sheet in the stack of sheets and the remaining sheets in the stack. A transport mechanism discharges the bottom sheet.
