    • The portions at the circumferential edges of a flow channel formation plate in which the corner portions of a dummy flow channel portion are formed are weaker than other portions, and thus when thermal stress has occurred due to temperature changes when the constituent elements of a flow channel unit are affixed to each other, cracks can be induced preferentially in the weak portion, rather than the other portions, starting from the ends of the corner portions. In particular, although similar corner portions are formed in a common liquid chamber, the intersection angle of the corner portions in the dummy flow channel portion is smaller than the intersection angle of the corner portions in the common liquid chamber, and thus it is easier for stress to concentrate in the corner portions of the dummy flow channel portion.

    • An electronic portable document format (PDF) file contains different combinations of gradient blends between spot color and process color. Each gradient blend is represented as both rasterized bitmap and vector images. The rasterized bitmap and vector images can be used to quickly assess the capability of any digital front end (DFE) to process the color gradient blends. The PDF file contains two sets of spot color and process color blended combinations. The first set contains four types of color gradient blends: spot-to-spot, process-to-spot, spot-to-process, and process-to-process, each of which represent the intended design. The second set contains the same four types of color gradient blends, except here the CMYK colors associated with the spot colors are intentionally manipulated. By printing the PDF file using different DFEs, one may compare the output from the two sets and immediately identify any color gradient handling problem, providing a quick benchmarking tool.

    • Provided are a data processing apparatus and method that make it possible to detect improper resource data that has been stored in a printer. The data processing apparatus, which is connectable to an image forming apparatus that refers to resource data when an image is formed, first acquires information relating to resource data that has been stored in the image forming apparatus and stores the information on a hard disk. Next, improper resource data is detected by control exercised by a CPU in the processing apparatus based upon the acquired information relating to the resource data. After prescribed processing is executed with respect to improper resource data that has been detected, information relating to prescribed resource data is provided to the image forming apparatus via a network controller.

    • Disclosed herein is an image managing systems for cellular phone users, wherein user registration and management is simplified. When a request for access is received from a cellular phone at a first storage means, the first storage means decodes the phone number of the accessing cellular phone, and a memory portion saves uploaded image data, to which a unique image ID has been assigned by an image ID issuing portion, in a memory area that has been assigned to the phone number. An editing portion of a service implementing portion sends data indicating the storage location (a URL address) and the image ID of an image data specified by the user to be stored permanently to a second storage means. The second storage means downloads, based on the URL address and image ID, and manages the target image data from the first storage means.
