    • An actuator for the rapid connection and disconnection of a switch (10) has a primary shaft (12) , which can be rotated to and fro between a first end setting (18) and a second end setting (18') and possesses a tension lever (16). Seated in a rotationally secure manner on a delivery shaft (14) parallel to the primary shaft (12) is the drive shaft (22), which can be rotated, under the force of the spring-loading arrangement (26), from the disconnect setting (24) into the connect setting (24') and back. The spring-loading arrangement (26) includes a helical spring (28), which acts as a pre-tensioned compression spring and is supported by its spring ends (36, 36') on a respective butt strap (32, 34), which butt straps in turn interact, via driving stops (52, 54, 56, 58), with the tension lever (16) and the drive lever (22). A locking device supports the delivery shaft (14) in its disconnect and connect settings (24, 24') counter to the force of the helical spring (28), which can be tensioned upon the rotation of the primary shaft (12), until the primary shaft (12) has reached the corresponding unlatching setting.

    • A switching system for a step transformer having at least two adjacent taps and a pair of terminals shiftable between the taps has a pair of fixed contacts normally connected to the terminals, a vacuum interrupter connected between the terminals and displaceable between an open-circuit position and a closed-circuit position, a pair of movable contacts each engageable with a respective one of the fixed contacts and forming therewith a respective bypass switch, and a cam rotatable about a cam axis and having a contact face and an axially oppositely facing interrupter face each formed with a respective operating formation. A drive rotates the cam about its axis through steps of a half revolution. A respective cam follower engaged between each of the movable contacts and the contact-face formation opens and closes one of the bypass switches on rotation of the cam through a half revolution and thereafter opens and closes the other of the bypass switches on rotation of the cam through a succeeding half revolution. Another cam follower and a force storer engaged between the interrupter and the interrupter-face formation snap the interrupter open and then snap it closed each time the cam is rotated through a half revolution.

    • An electric switch with a set of stationary contacts and a set of movable contacts situated on a contact bridge (30) between an IN-position and an OUT-position includes a forcibly guiding mechanism (32) for manual handling of the contact bridge (30) and an ejector mechanism (56) and a trip device (74) co-operating with the ejector mechanism, whereby the contact bridge (30) is automatically longitudinally displaced from its IN-position to its OUT-position when an overloading, a fault or a signal current is present. The forcibly guiding mechanism (32) and the contact bridge (30) are interconnected by means of a releasably blocking device in such a manner that the ejector mechanism (56) in the releasing state need only overcome frictional forces between the stationary and the movable contacts as the blocking device is released by means of the trip device (74). The forcibly guiding mechansim (32) and the ejector mechanism (56) co-operate in such a manner that the latter containing an energy reservoir such as a spring (64) is automatically reset before the contact bridge (30) can be forced to the IN-position. The forcibly guiding mechanism (32), in the form of an elbow joint, moves between two extreme positions and during such movement it passes a dead center. It includes a tilting spring (40) the potential energy of which after the passage of the dead center is utilized for charing the energy reservoir (64) of the ejector mechanism (56).
