    • A motorcycle speedometer assembly includes a casing, and a display face on the casing; a first rotary indicator at the display face and rotatable about a first axis, there being first speed indicating indicia on the display first face with which the indicator registers as it rotates about the axis; a first drive responsive to motorcycle forward speed and connected with the first indicator for rotating the indicator in proportion to motorcycle speed to register with corresponding first indicia; and a second indicator at the display face and rotatable about a second axis to indicate motorcycle engine RPM, the second axis offset from the first axis, there being second indicia on the display face with which the second indicator registers as it rotates about the second axis, the second indicia indicating tachometer increasing values of RPM; and a second drive responsive to motorcycle engine RPM and connected with the second indicator for rotating the second indicator in proportion to engine speed to register with corresponding second indicia; also, a rearwardly elongated, upwardly bulged, wedge shaped carrier supports the casing, the carrier having an upper surface substantially flush with said face, the carrier tapering rearwardly from said casing to incline the display face toward the motorcycle rider.

    • The present invention is concerned with a displaying apparatus for a vehicle which assures that a displayed image for displaying informations on the present running state of the vehicle such as a running speed or the like in the form of a virtual image by reflecting the displayed image on the displaying unit to an eye range on the driver's seat with the aid of a first reflective plate, and its object resides in providing a displaying apparatus of the foregoing type which assures that quality of the displayed image can be improved with inexpensive construction, and moreover, visual recognizability of the displaying apparatus can be improved (with improved optical contrast). According to the present invention, a surface glass disposed on a displaying unit adapted to allow displaying light beam from a second reflective plate to permeate through a first reflective plate is inclined in such a manner that a virtual image (ghost) identical with a displayed image built by the first reflective plate and the second reflective plate is located outside of a visual recognizable area.

    • A speed meter system for a vehicle which comprises a first pulse generator for providing pulses in accordance with the speed or engine speed of a vehicle, a first counter which is coupled to the first pulse generator for counting the number of pulses generated by the pulse generator, a second counter and a comparator coupled to the first and second counters for comparing the counts therein, the comparator producing a first judgement signal indicative of whether the count of the first counter is larger than or smaller than the count of the second counter and a second judgement signal indicative of the equality or inequality of the counts in the first and second counts. A gate circuit is coupled to the comparator for receiving the second judgement signal therefrom, the gate being opened when the second judgement signal indicates an inequality and closed when the second judgement signal indicates equality. A second pulse generator is coupled to the second counter means through the gate circuit for applying pulses to the second counter when the gate circuit is open, thereby changing the count in the second counter and an output is coupled to the second pulse generator through the gate circuit for providing an output indicative of the speed of the vehicle or engine thereof in accordance with the output of the second pulse generator.
