摘要： Resolution of redundant displacement sensor information to form a displacement value in an automotive electronic throttle control system provides for a varying contribution by each of a plurality of redundant sensors to the formation of the displacement value in accord with diagnosed variations in the fault status of the sensors. The number and type of fault conditions attributed to a specific sensor of the plurality over an analysis period are used to determine the relative degree by which that sensor will contribute to the displacement value formation. As an increasing number of fault conditions are attributed to a sensor, the relative degree of contribution of that sensor will gradually decrease. When severe fault conditions are attributed to a sensor, the relative degree of contribution of that sensor will rapidly decrease.

摘要： The rotor of a rotary position sensor mounts directly upon the rotary shaft to be sensed. The rotor prior to installation is retained in position by a pair of small protrusions extending from the rotor that cooperatively engage a pair of small indentations formed in a pair of supporting arms. During the installation process, the rotor is slipped onto the shaft and the protrusions are released from the engaged position. During operation of the position sensor, the rotor is free from direct contact with either the supporting arms or any other stationary part of the position sensor. Only the contactors engage the stationary components. This design eliminates the need for bearings and return springs prevalent in the prior art.

摘要： A rotational position-detecting device detects the rotational position of various kinds of rotating shafts in an accurate and simplified manner. A parameter element is mounted on a rotating shaft of a motor or the like for providing a parameter which varies in a manner corresponding to the rotational position of the rotating shaft. The parameter element may be formed by a variable resistor a resistance of which varies in a manner corresponding to the rotational position of the rotating shaft, or alternatively by a variable capacitor a capacitance of which varies in a manner corresponding to same. An oscillator generates a signal having a frequency dependent on the resistance or capacitance of the parameter element. The oscillator may be formed by a VCO to which is applied voltage dependent on the resistance of the parameter element, to generate a signal having a frequency dependent on the applied voltage. Alternatively, the oscillator may be formed by an LC resonance circuit which generates a signal having a frequency dependent on the capacitance of the parameter element. The oscillating frequency of the oscillator bears one-to-one correspondence to the rotational position of the rotating shaft, and hence the latter is detected based on the former.

A stationary portion of the potentiometer includes both a mother board and a daughter board to improve manufacturability of the potentiometer. An application specific integrated circuit is substituted for direct pulse-width-modulation circuitry that permits a second, redundant circuit to be included within the potentiometer housing.

摘要： An angular position sensor having at least one resistive track which is circular, for example, and at least one cursor. The cursor is adapted to move while in electric contact with the track. The track is closed and continuous and has at least two electric access points. The sensor cooperates with an arrangement for applying separate predetermined electric potentials to the access points and with an arrangement for measuring the resulting electric potential at one of the access points. The cursor is therefore able to rotate through a complete turn without leaving the one resistive track. All angles can be measured and rotation through several turns is possible.
