    • A filler for disintegrating projectiles for training ammunition composed essentially of a screened low carbon, unalloyed steel powder produced by atomizing a corresponding steel melt to form a steel powder, subsequently subjecting the powder to a reducing soft annealing treatment at a temperature of between about 900.degree. and 1050.degree. C., subjecting the annealed product to a comminuting (e.g., beating, impact and scrubbing) process followed by screening, wherein the comminuting process lasts longer than 60 minutes and the screened powder has a grain size below 0.315 mm, an uncompressed or apparent density of between 3.9 and about 4.6 g.multidot.cm.sup.-3, and is compressible in such a manner that the resulting density of a pressed body to be incorporated into the disintegrating projectile lies between about 6.5 and 7.15 g/cm.sup.3.

    • A conversion assembly for converting a practice warhead (10) into an armour penetrating warhead (30) is disclosed. The practice warhead (10) is the type having a plastic shell (11) with sockets (20,22) at both ends for receiving a metal ballast, such as a steel rod (24). The conversion assembly consists of a penetrator rod (32) of heavy metal with an outside diameter (D.sub.R) substantially less than the inside diameter of the sockets (20,22) in the shell (11) and two adaptor cups (34) of elastomeric material that are stretched over the ends of the penetrator rod (32) and then fitted into the sockets in the shell. The adaptor cups (34) each have, in the relaxed state, a substantially uniform peripheral wall thickness, an inner diameter slightly less than the outside diameter (D.sub.R) of the penetrator rod (32) and an outside diameter slightly less than the inside diameter of the sockets (20,22) in the shell (11). In preferred embodiments, the adaptor cup (34) has a boss (40) on its end wall or base to provide a flexible cushion to absorb differential expansion of the penetrator rod (32) and the shell (11). It is further preferred that the elastomeric material be relatively hard, e.g. a Shore A hardness of 70.

    • A body which can be axially incorporated at an artillery shell comprises a functional or operational element constructed as a radar reflector. A sleeve element is arranged at such functional element. This sleeve element is rotationally symmetrical about a lengthwise axis and is intended to be attached to the artillery shell. The functional element and the sleeve element are constructed as one piece or integrally. At the inside surface of the sleeve element there are formed in a turnably symmetrical or rotationally symmetrical manner beads, fins or claws or the like. The inner surface of the sleeve element is provided with an adhesive layer formed, for instance, of corundum powder contained in a synthetic resin. At the outside surface of the sleeve element there is arranged a fuse cord, the detonation of which produces a form-locking or positive connection of the sleeve element with the ordnance projectile or shell.
