摘要： A gas-delayed blowback firearm includes a lower receiver and an upper receiver releasably coupled thereto. A barrel having a cartridge chamber, an axial bore, and a barrel gas port is secured to the upper receiver. A bolt assembly in the upper receiver reciprocates between a forward in-battery position and a rearward position. A timing block is secured to the bolt assembly. A cylinder housing with an internal gas chamber and a cylinder gas port is secured to the upper receiver. A gas passageway fluidly communicates the barrel gas port with the cylinder gas port. A plunger in the gas chamber is secured to the timing block. The plunger reciprocates with the bolt assembly. Discharge of a cartridge received in the cartridge chamber temporarily pressurizes the gas chamber, applying a forward force to the plunger which causes the plunger to delay rearward travel of the bolt assembly.

摘要： A gas-delayed blowback system for a firearm preferably includes a receiver, a barrel and a spring-loaded moveable slide. The barrel is ported to at least two gas compression chambers into which expanding propellant gases flow after the firearm is fired. The gas compression chambers and ports vary in volume such that propellant gas pressure increases rapidly in one of the chambers, thereby locking the slide upon firing. Pressure in the other gas compression chambers increases and decreases at a slower rate due to a smaller port size, further delaying rearward travel of the slide after the bullet exits the barrel and barrel pressure is relieved. As a result, unlocking of the firearm is sufficiently delayed and felt recoil is reduced due to redistribution of propellant gas pressure, thereby accommodating modern high-pressure ammunition rounds.

The weapon comprising an action body, a barrel, and a bolt assembly, the bolt assembly being slidable within the action body. The bolt assembly comprising a bolt head, a locking slide and a firing pin, and a locking means arranged so that, upon loading a new cartridge for discharging, the locking means positively lock the bolt head such that, for a predetermined amount of time after the loaded cartridge is discharged, the locked bolt head stops the cartridge from retreating into the action body. The locking means is substantially in an in-line configuration with the bolt assembly. The locking means are arranged so that the recoil momentum of the weapon, caused by the discharge, is used for unlocking the bolt head, wherein the locking means are arranged so that, upon discharge of the cartridge, the locking slide recoils backwards and, once the bolt head is unlocked, the inertia of the locking slide facilitates the recoil of the bolt head.

摘要： Applicant's device improves rapidly firing guns. When such a gun fires, applicant's device delays departure of the gun bolt from the chamber or barrel zone holding a spent round's casing until barrel pressure drops to a safe level. The device has a hollow piston which is translatable fore and aft along the barrel and which has an orifice communicated to a duct from an inner barrel diameter to an outer barrel diameter. The duct slants forward toward the gun muzzle in a radially outward direction so as to direct expanding propellant gas from the barrel against a forward internal surface of the piston. Momentum of the gas keeps the piston in its most forward position and the piston solidly connects to the bolt so that the bolt stays at the chamber when the piston is pressurized. Optionally, the piston may have an escape opening at its aft end so that some of propellant gas entering the piston will be forced rearward, thereby creating an additional forward force on the piston during and immediately after firing of the projectile. Also optionally, the cylindrical wall of the piston flexes outward under blast pressure so as to frictionally against a bore in which the piston translates, thereby additionally retarding piston motion upon firing of the projectile.

摘要： In an automatic weapon, blowback pressure extracts the spent, empty shell. In this invention the rate of extraction due to blowback is automatically retarded in proportion to the force of the explosion. This is advantageous for several reasons. For example, if the explosion, and resultant pressure, is abnormally high, the shell is held in place by a semilocked or retarded bolt. The bolt is automatically released as the pressure drops. This action also assures that the maximum amount of energy will be imparted to the projectile, and that the shell will not be prematurely partially ejected with a blowout of the side of the shell.
