摘要： A process of preparing a water-based emulsion includes adding a first monomer feed to a reaction vessel in the presence of a first initiator and water to form an acid-functional polymer; neutralizing the acid-functional polymer to form a particulate polymer; and adding a second monomer feed to the reaction vessel in the presence of a second initiator to form an agglomerated polymer; where the process is a one-pot process. The first monomer feed includes a unbranched (meth)acrylate monomer, a (meth)acrylic acid monomer, a branched (meth)acrylate, and a styrenic monomer; the second monomer feed includes a hydrophobic monomer; the water-based emulsion includes the agglomerated polymer; the agglomerated polymer includes the particulate polymer; and the agglomerated polymer having an aggregated drupelet morphology. The agglomerated polymers may be used in high opacity emulsions.

摘要： The present invention provides a copolymer demonstrating superior heat resistance, fluidity, mechanical properties, appearance, low water absorbency and moldability. In addition, the present invention provides a process for producing a copolymer that enables the resulting copolymer to demonstrate superior heat resistance, fluidity, mechanical properties, appearance, low water absorbency and moldability. The copolymer of the present invention is a copolymer containing 80 mol % or more of a methyl (meth)acrylate unit (A), wherein the Vicat softening temperature thereof is 115° C. or higher, the saturated water absorption rate thereof at 60° C. is 4% by weight or less, and the yellow index thereof is 1 or less. In addition, the process for producing a copolymer of the present invention comprises the obtaining of a precursor by suspension polymerizing a monomer mixture containing 80 mol % or more of methyl (meth)acrylate (a) and 0.7 mol % to 7 mol % of (meth)acrylic acid (b), followed by melting and kneading the resulting precursor with an extruder to obtain a copolymer containing 80 mol % or more of a methyl (meth)acrylate unit (A), 0.45 mol % to 7 mol % of a (meth)acrylic acid unit (B), and 0.001 mol % to 0.25 mol % of a glutaric anhydride unit (C).

摘要： Disclosed is a process for making nitrated styrenic fluoropolymers having various degrees of substitution. The nitrated styrenic fluoropolymer is capable of providing an exceptionally high birefringence ranging from 0.02 to 0.036. Further, the birefringence can be tuned by varying the degree of substitution (DS) of the nitro group on the styrenic ring to meet the need for optical compensation film applications. More particularly, the optical compensation films of the present invention are for use in an in-plane switching LCD (IPS-LCD) and OLED display.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of preparing a vinyl chloride polymer having good thermal stability due to the restraint of dehydrochlorination by heat or ultraviolet rays, and a vinyl chloride polymer prepared thereby. In the preparation method, a modifier is introduced at the end of a polymerization process to impart the vinyl chloride polymer with high thermal stability without inducing modification. Therefore, the generation of dehydrochlorination due to heat or ultraviolet rays may be markedly restrained, thermal stability may be improved, and discoloration or the modification of physical properties may be prevented in the vinyl chloride polymer thus prepared.

The invention is a method for producing a methyl methacrylate polymer, comprising suspension polymerization of 30 to 100 wt % of methyl methacrylate and 70 to 0 wt % of a monomer copolymerizable therewith to produce a methyl methacrylate polymer, wherein the polymerization is initiated in the presence of 350 ppm or less of a suspension stabilizer relative to the monomer(s) and then a suspension stabilizer is added when a polymerization conversion ratio reaches 20 to 90%.
