摘要： A process for substantially completely removing a minor amount of molybdenum dissolved in a substantially anhydrous organic solution, such as a heavy distillation fraction resulting from the removal of unreacted propylene, propylene oxide and tertiary butyl alcohol from an epoxidation reaction mixture:wherein from about 1 to about 10 wt. % of an aqueous solution of sodium meta borate containing from about 1 to about 10 wt. % of dissolved sodium meta borate is added to an organic solution containing dissolved molybdenum catalyst in an amount sufficient to provide a molar excess of sodium meta borate, based on the gram atoms of dissolved molybdenum in said organic solution, to provide a mixture,wherein the mixture is maintained at a temperature ranging from about ambient temperature up to about 100.degree. C. at a pressure of about 0 to about 1,000 psig. for about 0.5 to about 5 hours, sufficient to precipitate at least about 95 mol % of the soluble molybdenum from the mixture, andwherein the mixture is filtered to obtain a filtrate containing not more than about 100 ppm of molybdenum.

摘要： A process is described for producing crystalline copper aluminum borate by forming an aqueous composition comprising a volatile organic liquid having at least partial miscibility with water, a source of copper(II) ions, a source of alumina, and a source of boria at a pH in range from about 4 to about 12 to form a homogeneous gel, drying the gel to form a superficially dry solid, and calcining the dry solid at a sufficiently high temperature to form crystalline copper aluminum borate. Also described is a method for producing a copper aluminum borate precursor which when dried and/or calcined to a sufficiently high temperature forms crystalline copper aluminum borate.

Also described is the use of such materials in catalytic compositions for the conversion of organic compounds. In particular, the new material Co(BO.sub.2)OH is described as well as the use of such material in various catalyzed processes including oxidation of organic compound processes. A particularly useful process is a heterogeneous catalyzed partial oxidation of an alkylaromatic followed by complete oxidation to an aromatic polycarboxlic acid in a water phase.

摘要： A process for producing acidic boratozirconium chloride sols which comprises: reacting a zirconium compound with a boron compound in molar ratios of B/Zr of 0.3-1.2 together with a compound of a metal M other than boron, the metal M being selected from the group consisting of divalent, trivalent, tetravalent and pentavalent metals in molar ratios of M/Zr of about 0.01-1 in water in the presence of chloride ions in molar ratios of Cl/Zr of not less than about 1.The acidic boratozirconium chloride sol may be converted to basic boratozirconium sols by reacting the acidic sol with a basic carbonate compound such as ammonium carbonate.The sols, either acidic or basic, are readily gelled by contact with a dehydration solvent such as methanol or acetone.The gel is calcined at relatively low temperatures to provide zirconia which is either very pure or stabilized in varied degrees.
