A mounting plate is bolted to brackets added to an existing refuse collection body and provides multiple connection points for attachment of one end of a slave cylinder that is hinged at its other end to one of the main lift arms of the collection body. As the rod of the slave cylinder extends or retracts with the movement of the lift arm, hydraulic fluid from the slave cylinder passes to fork cylinders which retract or extend to control the orientation of the lifted container relative to the lift arms. The apparatus can be easily added to a variety of existing front loading collection bodies.

摘要： A cart lifter is provided that is adapted to be mounted to a refuse container or directly to a refuse collection vehicle. A support is provided that is adapted to be pivotally mounted adjacent to the loading area of either the refuse container or the vehicle. First and second support arms are provided that are carried by the pivoting support. The support arms are movable relative to a support frame between a first position in which the support arms are adjacent the refuse container or vehicle and a second position in which the support arms are relatively angularly disposed with their free ends being spaced outwardly away from the support frame. A container capturer is provided for engaging and releasing a smaller refuse collection cart, and the free ends of each of the support arms are adapted to carry the container capturer. Actuators are provided for dumping or inverting the refuse collection cart, to move the support arms between the first position for storage and/or dumping and the second position for capturing or releasing a cart, and for actuating the container capturer so that it can engage and release the refuse collection cart.

摘要： A device for lifting and loading materials employs a pick-up arm for engaging material at ground level and an associated lift arm assembly. The pick-up arm can be swung relative to the lift arm about an axis that is generally perpendicular to the ground to bring the pick-up arm into a close-in position in front of a cab and into an outreaching position. The pick-up arm is automatically moved into the outreaching position as the lift arm moves toward a ground level load position and is automatically moved into the close-in position as the lift arm moves toward the off-load level above ground to facilitate off-loading operations above ground. The pick-up arm is also automatically maintained in a desired vertical relationship, parallel to the ground, as the lift arm moves between the load level and a predetermined level above ground level. When moved closer toward the off-load position, the pick-up arm is automatically vertically tipped to facilitate off-loading operations. The lift assembly can be controlled by a single operator using a single control lever. The lift arm can also be pivoted between a position next to the cab and a second position angularly spaced to one side of the cab. This can also be controlled by the single operator using the single control lever.

The longitudinal movement of the slide permits the contents of the container to be dumped into a selected one of two chambers of the collection hopper on the track, and where split containers are utilized, the contents of one side of a lifted container may be deposited in one chamber of the hopper and the contents of the other side of the container may be deposited in the other chamber. The pivotal mounting of the faceplate to the slide permits the faceplate to be aligned with misoriented containers.

摘要： A refuse packer includes a paddle (14) which oscillates horizontally about axis (19) through about 200.degree. to sweep refuse into a storage chamber of a vehicle (not shown). The paddle has an actuating assembly (26) supported by a single housing (27) secured to a vehicle chassis. The actuating assembly has a drive shaft with a hexagonal end clamped in a hexagonal opening (21) of the paddle. The drive shaft also has a pinion engaged by a pair of opposed toothed racks which slide in respective hydraulic cylinders (35, 36, 37, 38) which act to oscillate the shaft and paddle. A pair of hydraulic resistance cylinders (40) oppose side loads set up by the engagement of the racks with the pinion. In former arrangements the paddle was coupled to a crank plate moved by hydraulic rams which swung as they reciprocated. This led to uneven torque on the paddle and a tendency to stall midstroke, whereas the present drive provides even torque, throughout the oscillations.
