    • An inflatable structure mount is used for mounting a device to an inflatable structure. An example is mounting of radar panels to an inflatable structure within an airship. The mount includes the device, and inserts coupled to the back side of the device, which mechanically couple to flexures mounted on the inflatable structure. Some of the flexures may have slotted holes, used in positioning the inserts on the inflatable structure at positions that will allow the flexures to mate with the inserts. A jig or tool may be used as part of the installation process, to locate the flexures at points where they will properly engage the inserts. The flexures may also each face a center point that is underneath the device to be mounted. The flexures may engage the inserts in ways that allow for quick installation and de-installation of devices, and may allow for visual inspection of proper installation.

    • A method for balloon launching may include loading a pre-packaged balloon and payload into a shell structure. The pre-packaged balloon may be pulled out of its packaging in a vertical direction, for instance using a gantry crane. The gantry crane may be configured to inflate the balloon from the top of the envelope. The balloon may be inflated while substantially within the shell structure, which may provide protection from wind gusts. A vehicle, such as a heavy forklift, may provide mobility and support for the balloon and shell. Once the balloon is inflated, the vehicle may move the balloon/shell combination at a rate and direction substantially matching the current wind direction/speed. Furthermore, after reaching a zero-velocity condition relative to the wind, the vehicle may assist and/or initiate the opening of the shell. A tether connecting the balloon to the shell structure may be disconnected, allowing the balloon to launch.

    • A high altitude balloon system includes a dual chamber balloon extending from an upper apex to a lower apex with a circumferential edge between the upper and lower apexes. A deflectable diaphragm is within the dual chamber balloon and coupled along the circumferential edge. The deflectable membrane divides the dual chamber balloon into a lift gas chamber formed by an interior surface of the dual chamber balloon and the deflectable diaphragm, and a ballast chamber formed by the interior surface of the dual chamber balloon and the deflectable diaphragm. Optionally, the dual chamber balloon is constructed by interposing the deflectable diaphragm between an upper and lower balloon panels. Each of the upper and lower balloon panels and the deflectable diaphragm are then coupled together along the circumferential edge to form both the lift gas chamber and the ballast chamber.
