    • A castor wheel assembly comprises a tubular casing of rectangular cross section extending in axial direction between a pair of opposed ends and a swivel member for connecting the casing to an object supported thereon for relative rotation about a vertical swivel axis. A shaft extends horizontally through the casing for connection to pivot arms at opposed ends thereof. A castor wheel is coupled between the pivot arms spaced radially outwardly from the shaft. A flange spans radially from the shaft a fully width of the casing along a length of the shaft. Elastomeric material supports the shaft and the flange along one wall of the casing such that the elastomeric material is arranged to be compressed between the flange and an opposing wall of the casing by rotation of the shaft resulting from upward deflection of the wheel relative to the casing.

    • Disclosed is a brake caster with stroke adjustment mechanism, including a retainer, a king pin, a catch spring, a catch/release button, a plunger block, and a brake pad. The upper part of the king pin is fitted with the spring coil; the catch/release button is fitted with the catch spring; and a threaded polygonal lock nut is placed over the catch/release button in the hollow space of the plunger block, which has the brake pad installed on the bottom end; the plunger block being coupled with the catch/release button is slipped onto the king pin lengthwise along the threads. By twisting the plunger block in and out around the neck of the plunger block, the stroke distance can be adjusted according to different levels of rubber on the wheel, so that the service life of the caster can be effectively prolonged without numerous replacements of the wheels.

    • A steering roller arrangement for a trackless floor vehicle in the form of a so-called three-wheeled vehicle is described. With this vehicle, in addition to two running wheels, a steering roller is provided which can be swiveled about a vertical axis by means of a ring mount for traveling in a curved line and to achieve a trailing effect. Relative to the rotatable part of the ring mount, the steering roller is movable between two opposite trailing positions such that, with a reversal of the direction of travel, the required alteration of the steering roller trailing effect is brought about by a corresponding adjustment of the steering roller. In this way uncontrolled veering of the vehicle is avoided which occur with conventional three-wheeled vehicles on account of the rotation of the steering roller by 180.degree. caused by the trailing effect of the steering roller. The steering roller is expediently displaceable in a straight line by a linear guide between the two trailing positions. The linear guide can serve at the same time as a self-aligning bearing, by mans of which the steering roller can be tilted about a horizontal axis to adapt to unevenness in the floor.

    • In accordance with this invention I provide a curb laying machine designed to extrude curbing of molten asphalt or concrete in a parking lot or the like. This machine utilizes a wheeled chassis, and a curb mold removably carried on a lower portion of the chassis, with the lower edges of the mold in contact with the ground during the laying of curbing. An engine driven auger is utilized for bringing about the extrusion of curbing through the curb mold as the machine moves slowly forward. My machine utilizes a chassis, steerable front wheels supporting a forward portion of the chassis, and first and second rear wheels mounted on a rearward portion of the chassis. The improvement in accordance with my invention comprises a rapidly operable height changing mechanism associated with the first rear wheel, latter wheel being located in the immediate vicinity of the curb mold. This first wheel is disposed upon a pivoted framework mounted on a lower portion of the chassis, and also provided is an extensible fluidic actuator under control of the operator of the machine. This extensible fluidic actuator is operatively connected to the pivoted framework, and serving, when caused by the machine operator to extend, to rapidly bring about a degree of lifting of the rear portion of the chassis, thus to remove the lower edges of the curb mold from ground contact, and thereby enabling the operator to turn or move the machine to a new operative position.
