    • A self-cleaning intake screen assembly for preventing debris, fish, and other wildlife from being transferred from a waterway such as a lake or river, which includes a conical support structure, a screen and a screen sweeping assembly. The conical support structure has a circular base, a cap plate, and a plurality of support studs extending therebetween. The screen extends between the base and the cap plate and is affixed to the support studs. The screen sweeping assembly is rotatably mounted to the cap plate for sweeping debris off of the screen. A flow restrictor is disposed inside the conical support structure for restricting water flow through a portion of the screen in order to reduce differences in water flow rates through different portions of the screen.

    • The present invention relates to an apparatus and a process for screening a fibre suspension such as papermaking stock in a pressurized screen especially in connection with pumping the liquid. The invention also relates to the use of the apparatus in a process for the production of paper or board. The apparatus comprises a generally tubular housing (12) and a perforated screen-drum (22) inside the housing. The housing (12) and screen-drum (22) define between themselves a generally annular screening zone (30). The screen-drum (22) surrounds a tubular accept channel (32). The apparatus further comprises a stock inlet (14), outlet (19) for accept, and outlet (17) for reject. The screen-drum (22) is rotatable within the housing (12) and conducts are provided for introducing diluting fluid into the annular screening zone (30) at a plurality of locations along its axial extent. The accept outlet end of the housing (12) preferably widens into a pumping chamber (18) having a pump wheel (26) for pumping the screened suspension.

    • A method and apparatus for fibrous suspensions in the wood processing industry and more specifically to a so-called drum cylinder, the basic construction of which comprises a vessel, into which suspension being thickened is supplied and a wire-surface cylinder rotating in the vessel. The drum filter is characterized in that the closure member of the drum filter has a channel for leading gas from the filtrate tubes through the compartments of the distribution chamber to the outside of the closing member. The method is characterized in that the operation phase of the filter cylinder is divided into five separate stages. In the first stage, when the cylinder descends on to the vessel, air and the initial filtrate are discharged from the filtrate components and the formation of the pulp web on the wire surface begins. In the second stage, filtrate is discharged with vacuum and the formation of the pulp web continues. In the third stage, pulp web is dried by means of vacuum when said part of the web has risen with the cylinder from the vessel. In the fourth stage, a so-called removal stage, the pulp web is removed from the wire surface and discharged from the apparatus. In the fifth stage, a so-called washing stage, the wire surface is washed.

    • An apparatus which performs solids particles separation from a liquids/solids slurry, and subsequent drying of such solids particles, within a single enclosure. Further processing functions, such as reslurry washing, plug washing, crystal growth and other reactions, can also be carried out within that single enclosure. The single enclosure comprises a partly perforated centrifuge drum which can be rotated about a vertical axis at a fast speed at which the centrifugal effects on material in the drum are substantial so that partly dried solids collect in a substantially cylindrical form on the side wall of the drum, and a slow speed at which the centrifugal effects on material in the drum are negligible; a stripping mechanism which is displaceable within the drum, when the drum is rotated at slow speed, for dislodging solids which have been built up on the side wall of the drum during rotation at high speed; and means for heating at least a bottom part of the drum on which partly dried solids collect when dislodged by the stripping mechanism from the side wall of the drum. The solids can themselves thus be heated, or otherwise processed, to cause evaporation therefrom of any remaining liquid.
