    • A fire-extinguishing or fire-protection device formed from a pressure vessel filled with a pressurized extinguishing medium. The device has an exit opening closed by a closure element which can be perforated by a perforation element. The pressurized extinguishing medium is held back in the pressure vessel from a passively thermally controlled trigger valve attached directly to the exit opening. The valve has a perforation element and a thermal triggering element. The perforation element is prestressed in a triggering position and is retained by the thermal triggering element in a standby position. When the triggering element is triggered as a result of a predetermined temperature being reached, the perforation element is released moving the triggering element to the triggering position in which it perforates the closure element. A thermal trigger valve suitable for use in the fire-extinguishing or fire-protection device is disclosed.

    • A linear fire extinguisher system is described that includes a flexible, substantially closed plastic tube containing an extinguishant, the tube containing a multiplicity of selectively weakened pre-scored orifices at preselected spacing along the tube length, whereby sufficient heat from a fire contacting the tube will weaken and rupture the tube predictably and facilitate efficient discharge of the extinguishant directly onto the fire. The structure of the invention may include two coaxial inner and outer tubes, each tube containing extinguishant wherein the outer tube may initially rupture upon heating and discharge extinguishant onto the fire, the inner tube being available for rupture and discharge onto the fire upon re-ignition or if the discharge of the outer tube is insufficient to extinguish the fire.

    • A fire safety device for controlling the spread of fire in a structure. The invention comprises a base plate, a smoke detector, a syringe, and a cover. The syringe has a reservoir containing a fire retardant chemical. A fuse link holder has a melting fuse link that maintains a plunger assembly in position, and a spring is loaded behind the plunger. The syringe also has a nozzle in open communication with a supply line, which is in open communication to the reservoir. When a sufficiently high ambient temperature is reached, the fuse link melts, releasing the piston rod from the fuse link and allowing the coil spring to urge the plunger toward the other end of the syringe, and forcing the fire-retardant chemical from the nozzle. When smoke is present, the smoke detector sounds an audible alarm.
