    • An electrical control unit comprises a case having a groove on a first contact surface thereof, a cover having a protrusion on a second contact surface thereof, a printed wiring board received in a board receiving space defined between the case and the cover, and an adhesive received in the groove, wherein when the cover is put on the case having the protrusion inserted into the groove, the adhesive in a still soft condition is forced to move toward a space between the first and second contact surfaces for bonding the same, and wherein when the printed wiring board is properly put in the board receiving space, a peripheral outer surface of the board serves as an extra part of an inside wall of the groove.

    • A box-shaped housing of an in-vehicle electronic control unit that controls an occupant crash protection system is installed to an installation surface of a vehicle and includes an opening end that defines an opening in an imaginary plane, a ceiling wall, and a peripheral wall. The housing receives a planar control circuit board of the control unit through the opening end toward the ceiling wall and securely holds the circuit board at the peripheral wall such that a plane of the circuit board is parallel to the imaginary plane.     • A sealed electronic module includes a housing having an open end, a main circuit board and at least one auxiliary circuit board, where the main and auxiliary circuit boards are both secured in the housing without fasteners by a potting material that is applied to the exposed face of the main circuit board. The main circuit board is peripherally supported by a housing ledge, and the auxiliary circuit board is disposed inboard of the main circuit board. A controlled amount of the potting material applied to the exposed face of the main circuit board flows through one or more strategically placed apertures in the main circuit board, forming one or more bridges of potting material between the main circuit board and the underlying surface of the auxiliary circuit board so that potting material applied in a single step secures both circuit boards in the housing while environmentally sealing the module.

    • A sealed electronic module includes a housing having an open end and a circuit board that is both peripherally and centrally supported within the housing, where potting material applied to the exposed face of the circuit board peripherally and centrally affixes the circuit board to the housing and also environmentally seals the module.
