    • An aircraft seat integrating a loudspeaker system for creating an isolated sound stage designed to prevent egress from one aircraft seating area to another aircraft seating area includes a seat body having a horizontally oriented seat bottom and a seat back secured thereto. The seat back includes an upper end and a lower end. The lower end is positioned adjacent the seat bottom and the upper end includes a headrest structure for supporting the head and upper back of a passenger. A loudspeaker system includes a directional sound assembly and a nondirectional sound assembly. The directional sound assembly is mounted within the headrest structure for selective movement between a storage orientation in which the directional sound assembly is housed and hidden within a supporting housing mounted along the headrest structure and a use orientation in which the directional sound assembly is positioned for use.

    • A sound reproduction apparatus includes a sound source localization estimating unit that performs estimates using input audio signals in an acoustic space when the input audio signals are reproduced by speakers placed in standard positions; and a sound source signal separating unit that calculates a sound source localization signal and separates, from the input audio signals, sound source non-localization signals. Additionally, a sound source position parameter calculating unit calculates parameters indicating a position of the sound source localization signal in the acoustic space; and a reproduction signal generating unit uses the sound source position parameters to distribute the sound source localization signal to front speakers placed in the standard positions in front and headphones placed near the ears of a listener and in positions different from the standard positions, by combining the sound source localization signal and the sound source non-localization signals.

    • A system is provided for configuring an audio system for a given space. The system may statistically analyze potential configurations of the audio system to configure the audio system. The potential configurations may include positions of the loudspeakers, numbers of loudspeakers, types of loudspeakers, listening positions, correction factors, or any combination thereof. The statistical analysis may indicate at least one metric of the potential configuration including indicating consistency of predicted transfer functions, flatness of the predicted transfer functions, differences in overall sound pressure level from seat to seat for the predicted transfer functions, efficiency of the predicted transfer functions, or the output of predicted transfer functions. The system also provides a methodology for selecting loudspeaker locations, the number of loudspeakers, the types of loudspeakers, correction factors, listening positions, or a combination of these schemes in an audio system that has a single listening position or multiple listening positions.

    • In general, techniques are described for performing constrained dynamic amplitude panning in collaborative sound systems. A headend device comprising one or more processors may perform the techniques. The processors may be configured to identify, for a mobile device participating in a collaborative surround sound system, a specified location of a virtual speaker of the collaborative surround sound system and determine a constraint that impacts playback of audio signals rendered from an audio source by the mobile device. The processors may be further configure to perform dynamic spatial rendering of the audio source with the determined constraint to render audio signals that reduces the impact of the determined constraint during playback of the audio signals by the mobile device.
