    • A system and method for automatic creation of digital image albums. A Page Creator Module utilizes a genetic engine and a layout evaluation module. The genetic engine evolves a group of images to a plurality of album pages, based on certain layout criteria. The evaluation module calculates layout criteria and compares them with user preferences. When an acceptable image/page layout has been generated, the image/page assignments are transferred to an Image Placement Module. The Image Placement Module utilizes a second genetic engine, which evolves various criteria to generate page layouts genetic structures. These structures define the location, scale, and rotation of images placed on a given page. A layout evaluation module calculates and compares these layouts with certain other preferences and page requirements. When a suitable layout has been generated, a final album output is generated, which may be displayed, printed, or otherwise transferred for subsequent utilization.

    • A method for providing information with digital images includes receiving a digital image of a subject, the digital image including as metadata a geographic position of the subject and other information associated with generating a path to the subject. A path to the subject from the source location can then be generated based on a geographic position of the source location and the metadata included with the digital image. The metadata can be stored on a mobile device and an alert provided when the mobile device is near the geographic position of the subject or if a trajectory of the mobile device does not match the generated path. Relationships with other digital images having associated metadata may also be included. Thus, users have the ability to use their image capture devices to intelligently share digital images of subjects and knowledge of the subjects, delivering greater value from these devices.

    • A method and system for integrating web photo-services for a browser-enabled device is disclosed. The method and system include providing a server that communicates with the device over a network, and associating images stored on at least one photo-service site with a user account. Thereafter, an inventory of images stored on the device is received from the device, and an image-related web application is provided to the device over the network, where the web application requires access to the user's images. The method and system further include providing a list of the images associated with a user's account to the web application, wherein the list of images includes an image reference for each image and an indication of whether each image is stored on the device or on the photo-service site, such that the web application may perform at least one function on the user's images regardless of where the images are stored.
