摘要： A methodology for automatic selection of a connection, on behalf of a device user, to a hybrid network for calls is provided in which a combination of a variety of inputs is utilized to populate a filtered list of available connections that is sorted by connection cost in which the least costly connection is at the top of the list. The methodology is executed periodically, or in response to event occurrence such as a call event, and the connection at the top of the filtered sorted list is utilized as the preferred connection for calls. Preferred status may be persisted until the next execution of the methodology when a potentially different connection is selected as preferred.

By the disclosure, a network required by a user may be automatically found simply and rapidly, and the mobile terminal may automatically roam, so that user experiences are improved.

The communication exchange includes an ecosystem of a plurality of operators, having one or more HPMN and VPMN operators. The communication exchange further includes a gateway for facilitating local data services for users, where the user is roaming in a visited network (VPMN) over existing roaming relationship between the VPMN and a home network (HPMN), by configuring an Access Point Name (APN) of the users. The communication exchange further includes an interface maintaining a bi-directional connection with the gateway to exchange information related to the roaming services, and a bi-directional connection with users via their mobile devices' user interface.

The system and method extends cellular phone coverage of a land-based cellular phone network by: receiving information for determining a predicted or actual increase in aggregate cellular phone usage demand in an area at a determined time; identifying, based on an said predicted or actual increased aggregate cellular phone usage demand for said area, whether there exists a mismatch of existing usage coverage compared with said determined increased aggregate demand for that area; determining, based on an identified mismatch, a plan for sending signals to and deploying one or more mobile cellular unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) having telecommunications equipment configured to extend cellular phone network coverage of an existing land-based cellular phone network at the mismatched area.

For example, the UE may receive, from the mobile communication network, charging data regarding one or more WLANs in the vicinity of the UE. The UE may also receive rules regarding whether to offload communication traffic from the cellular communication network to a particular WLAN based on charging data relating to the particular WLAN. The UE may detect one of the WLANs and determine whether to offload communication traffic to the WLAN based at least in part on the received rules and the received charging data regarding the WLAN. The determination may be further based on user preferences saved on the UE regarding the charging data.
