摘要： A mobile terminal for providing a mobile service and a method for storing and finding a phone number using the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal stores and manages country code information, a mobile service subscriber's registration information, and mobile service usage history information; automatically generates a country code of a country where the mobile terminal is located using the mobile service subscriber's registration information and mobile service usage history information; and executes a phone number storage command or a phone number search command using the country code. Where an international roaming service is executed by a user's moving from one country to another country, the mobile terminal can automatically generate a country code or store an arbitrary phone number. Thus, there is no need for mobile service users to manually enter a country code in their mobile terminal when roaming service is executed.

摘要： The invention provides marketing a telephone service that has an adapter or dongle that is functionally interposed between a telephone and a telephone utility line. The adapter is programmed to receive a voice signal and telephone number transmitted by the telephone. Based on the telephone number, the adapter determines whether to (i) pass the telephone number through to the utility line, or (ii) pass a different access number through to the utility line. A first server then receives voice signal through the telephone utility line, and to send the voice signal as a series of packets through a packet switched network to a second server. The second server is programmed to transmit and receive the voice signal to a second telephone via another telephone utility line. The service is based on a flat-fee subscription.

摘要： The inability of an ISDN equipment user to properly configure ISDN terminal equipment, even when provided with correctly assigned switch protocol, SPID and LDN parameters by a telephone service provider, is successfully remedied by a SPID/switch protocol detector. Upon being invoked by the user, the routine proceeds to conduct an iterative search of stored SPID formats associated with different central office switch protocols. SPIDs are assembled in accordance with the iteratively accessed SPID formats and directory number information that has been entered by the user. If an attempt to register a SPID is successful, the routine places a test call. If the test call is successful, the SPID and its associated switch protocol will have been identified, and the terminal equipment may place a call.

At least one number pattern corresponding to the occurrences are thereafter identified and stored for later presentation to a user of a mobile device. The occurrences and corresponding number pattern(s) may be filtered to reduce the likelihood of false detections. Furthermore, the detected number pattern(s) may be augmented to ensure completeness. Users may edit and persistently store the resulting number pattern(s). In one embodiment, a portion of the audio stream may be stored and subsequently subjected to the speech analysis process. The stored portion of the audio stream may be reproduced at substantially the same time that at least one number pattern detected therein is provided to the user. In this manner, telephone numbers in audio streams may be captured safely and conveniently.

Each translation rule contains one or more conditions and a corresponding action item that should be performed to translate the dialed string when the rule is satisfied. The improved abbreviated dialing feature allows a shorter sequence of digits dialed from any telephone connected to a compliant switch to be replaced by a longer dialed string.

摘要： This invention provides an apparatus and method for processing telephone numbers that assists telephone subscribers in reaching the desired destination when the area code is unknown or has changed. The invention can be integrated into a telephone unit, implemented as a stand-alone device connected to the subscribers telephone line (including wireless, cable-TV lines, and other modes of telecommunication), implemented as a utility on a personal computer that may or may not be connected to the Internet or to a telephone line, or implemented as part of the telephone switching system. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus for processing telephone numbers includes an area code processor and a caller interface. The area code processor has means, which are responsive to information about the called party, for producing a list of telephone numbers. The caller interface communicates with the area code processor and a calling party; and has means for monitoring call initiation signals, means for receiving called party information such as a telephone number, and means for selecting a target telephone number from the list of telephone numbers produced by the area code processor.
