    • An electronic device is connectable to an external device. An interface substrate is detachably connected to a main substrate. A first interface is installed on the interface substrate, and the first interface is connectable to the external device. A second interface is installed on the main substrate, and the second interface is connectable to the external device. A selection unit selects one interface of the first interface on the interface substrate and the second interface on the main substrate. A communication unit communicates information with the external device through the interface selected by the selection unit. At least one of the first interface and the second interface is configured to detect a connection state to the external device. The selection unit selects an interface which is designated or preferentially selects an interface which detects a connection to the external device.

    • The application discloses systems and methods for securing a document while routing through native or third party infrastructure. A process resident on the user's platform generates a three-part secure document from the user's original document. The first part is public and contains document metadata such as a public key. The public key is used to encrypt the second part of the document's metadata which includes a user supplied password. The third part contains the original document that has been symmetrically encrypted using the user supplied password. The result is that only the first part of the new document is visible to unsecured transmission channels or third party infrastructure.

    • Methods and systems receive a scan job into a computerized device from an optical scanning device. The computerized device is operatively connected to the optical scanning device. These methods and systems process, using the computerized device, the scan job. Further, such methods and systems use the computerized device to cause a printing device operatively connected to the optical scanning device to print a scan confirmation sheet. The scan confirmation sheet indicates that the computerized device received the scan job. The scan confirmation sheet comprises computer readable markings. The computerized device can receive a transmission of the computer readable markings from a second device separate from the computerized device. In response to receiving the transmission of the computer readable markings printed on the scan confirmation sheet, the computerized device can provide the status of the processing of the scan job, and/or alter or cancel the processing of the scan job.
