The diffractive optical waveguide comprises a waveguide substrate having a coupling-in region and a coupling-out region that includes a first coupling-out region, a second coupling-out region, and a transitional region; a coupling-in grating; and a coupling-out grating. The coupling-out grating comprises first and second coupling-out gratings and a plurality of transitional coupling-out grating. The first and second coupling-out gratings are arranged in a first direction. The transitional region comprises a plurality of sub-regions each correspondingly provided with one of transitional coupling-out gratings. The transitional coupling-out grating has a first, a second, and a third vector direction. The third vector direction is parallel to the vector direction of the first coupling-out grating. The first vector direction forms a first included angle with the third vector direction, and the second vector direction forms a second included angle with the third vector direction. The first included angle corresponding to the one, in two neighboring transitional coupling-out gratings, closer to the second coupling-out grating is greater than the first included angle corresponding to the farther one; and/or, the second included angle corresponding to the one closer to the second coupling-out grating is greater than the second included angle corresponding to the farther one.

摘要： A waveguide assembly is provided. The waveguide assembly includes a pair of pupil-replicating waveguides. The first pupil-replicating waveguide is configured for receiving an input beam of image light and providing an intermediate beam comprising multiple offset portions of the input beam. The second pupil-replicating waveguide is configured for receiving the intermediate beam from the first pupil-replicating waveguide and providing an output beam comprising multiple offset portions of the intermediate beam. The input beam may be expanded by the waveguide assembly in such a manner that pupil gaps are reduced or eliminated.

One or more diffractive gratings are disposed along an optical path between the in-coupling grating and the out-coupling grating, the one or more diffractive gratings configured to diffract light outside the first wavelength band out of the waveguide and away from the user eye.

摘要： An optical display comprises: a first waveguide comprising a first surface and a second surface, an input coupler, a fold grating, and an output grating. The input coupler receives collimated first wavelength light from an Input Image Node causes the light to travel within the first waveguide via total internal reflection between the first surface and the second surface to the fold grating. The fold grating provides pupil expansion in a first direction directs the light to the output grating via total internal reflection between the first surface and the second surface. The output grating provides pupil expansion in a second direction different than the first direction and causes the light to exit the first waveguide from the first surface or the second surface. At least one of the input coupler, fold grating and output grating is a rolled k-vector grating, and the fold grating is a dual interaction grating.

摘要： Systems, methods, and apparatuses for an eye tracking system to track eye movement via a camera and lens module utilizing a low-profile phase element, such as a holographic optical element (HOE), or a multipurpose sensor are provided. Systems and methods may include a multipurpose sensor to detect changes in light and determine occurrence of eye movement, a lens module (e.g., waveguide) configured to project an image covering a first field of view within an eye relief zone, to a camera positioned adjacent to the lens module and configured to track eye movements within a second field of view, and a low-profile phase element positioned in front of the camera. Light reflected from the user's eyes is transmitted via lens module to the camera which responds to eye reflection data of the second field of view. Systems and apparatuses for a calibration system to perform key performance indicator testing for eye tracking systems are provided. The system may include a camera positioned in front of an artificial eye or object being tested and an eye tracking system positioned. The camera may include calibrated ground truth data for eye tracking systems. They camera may be attached to a mount with kinematic mounting features. The mount may be positioned anterior of the eye tracking system and magnetized, enabling the interchangeability of the camera and mount between different eye tracking systems. The calibration system may include a lens arranged to guide light through the eye tracking system and to the artificial eye, where the reflection of light may be observed by the eye tracking system and the camera of the calibration system.

摘要： A waveguide image combiner is used to transmit a monochrome or full-color image in an augmented reality display. The combiner uses multiple stacked substrates and multiple pairs of incoupling and outcoupling VHOEs to expand a first FOV and an image expander to expand the second or perpendicular FOV. This suitably provides an expanded FOV that offers a diagonal FOV≥50°, a horizontal FOV≥40 and a vertical FOV≥25°. The combiner also delivers a large horizontal eye box up to 20 mm and a vertical eye box of 10 mm while maintaining high light efficiency of the real scene (e.g. >80%). The system is able to use a light engine based on broadband (10 nm≤Δλ≤40 nm) LEDs and maintain a large horizontal field of view and high transmission of the real imagery. The approach resolves issues with current embodiments including astigmatism, image overlap, color balance, and small light engine pupils leading to reduced eye boxes.
