    • The present invention relates to a calibratable sensor unit for a reaction vessel, such as for example a fermenter (48), in particular a disposable fermenter, comprising at least one sensor device (14) to be calibrated and at least one compartment (26, 28, 30) containing a calibrating agent, the at least one sensor device and the at least one compartment (26, 28, 30) being accommodated movably relative to one another in a housing (12) that is connected to or can be connected to the reaction vessel (48), wherein the calibrating unit (10) is arranged to calibrate the at least one sensor device (14) by contact with the calibrating agent before chemical and/or physical parameters of a measurement substance are measured with the at least one sensor device (14). According to the invention it is proposed that the sensor device (10) is configured in such a way that the relative movement between the at least one sensor device (14) and the at least one compartment (26, 28, 30) can be carried out irreversibly.

    • An adjustable insertion assembly for an electrochemical sensor includes an electrode holder to receive the sensor, having a distal aperture to permit process fluid to contact the sensor. A receptacle slidably receives the holder, for a sliding range of motion extending from fully inserted to fully retracted positions. An open distal end portion of the receptacle extends through a wall of a process fluid vessel, so that the aperture is open to the process fluid when fully inserted, and closed when fully retracted. A leverage member is releasably movable relative to the receptacle, and moves with a captured extension. An abutment of the receptacle engages the extension so that movement of the leverage member in opposite directions alternately clamps and releases the electrode holder relative to the receptacle to substantially prevent and permit movement at substantially any point within the range of movement.

    • An assembly for insertion and retraction of probe or probe-like device which does not require a seal or packing gland, instead utilizing pressure equalization between pressurized process fluids and the housing containing a probe, so as to negate the use of a dynamic seal. The preferred embodiment of the present invention contemplates an inserting/retraction mechanism for raising and lowering the probe into and from the pressurized fluid, respectively. A housing having a valve is configured to allow fluid communication between the pressurized fluid source, and the interior of the housing assembly. A conduit engages the housing assembly, and is formed to slidingly receive the outer diameter of the probe therethrough, such that a sliding seal maintains a fluid seal between the outer wall of the probe and the inner wall of the conduit, as the probe is telescoped therethrough during insertion and retraction of the probe into/from the pressurized process.

All surfaces and edges of the immersion tube which are exposed to the measurement medium during operation are smooth and rounded.
