    • A bolt-ring pipe connector system for connecting stub end pipe particularly thermoplastic pipe is shown. The bolt-ring has an outer vertical rim portion, an inner vertical rim portion and an interconnecting web portion provided with spaced bolt holes. The top side of the bolt-ring has a beveled and angular top surface. The bottom side of the bolt-ring has a contoured recess that provides a variable cross sectional diameter. The new, deformable, variable geometry, hollowed, bolt-ring can be flexed by slight deformations under constant bolt-load. As a result, all anticipated initial and operating changes in high-density polyethylene stub-end dimensions, such as those caused by bolt-up and thermal strain, are managed by the bolt-ring.

    • The present invention is concerned with a connector and in particular a connector capable of connecting both male to male and female to female parts. The present invention thus provides a connector part (30) including a body-portion (31) and at least one arm (40) that projects from an end of the body-portion (31), the or each arm (40) being arranged such that the connector part (30) can be mated with another, substantially identical connector part (39), so that the or each arm of the connector part (30) interposes the or each arm of the respective other connector part (30), wherein the first-connector part (30) has engagement means (33, 42) operable to be releasably engaged by the or each arm (40) of the substantially identical connector part, thereby fixing it relative to the first-said connector part.

    • A method facilitates assembling a turbine engine casing. A first casing section is positioned radially outward from a turbine engine. The first casing includes a first flange having an outer end portion, an inner end portion, and a body therebetween. At least a portion of the outer end portion has a partial frusto-conical cross-sectional profile. A second casing section including a second flange is positioned adjacent the first casing section such that a mating surface of the second flange is positioned substantially flush against a first flange mating surface. Each respective mating surface is opposite a respective load-bearing surface. A fastener is inserted through an opening in the first and second flanges to couple casing sections together such that a portion of a load-bearing surface extending over the first flange outer end portion facilitates distributing loading induced therein substantially equally across the load bearing surface.
