    • Provided is a power generation/transmission device capable of obtaining stable power by utilizing rising and falling motion of rods and rolling motion of a spherical body. The power generation/transmission device includes: drive rods F1 to F3 capable of rising and falling in a vertical direction; a drive rotating disc 3 supported to be three-dimensionally rotatable about a first universal joint 41 to rotate on a conical trajectory along a circular track of a first angle restricting plate 43 disposed below the drive rotating disc 3; and a first spherical body 32 placed on the drive rotating disc 3 to be capable of rolling motion. The drive rotating disc 3 is rotated by the rising and falling motion of the drive rods F1 to F3 and the rolling motion of the first spherical body 32.

    • A wabble plate type variable displacement compressor comprises a rotation preventing mechanism of the wabble plate which includes (a) an inner ring provided movably in the axial direction although rotation is prevented, supporting a main shaft at the inner diameter portion to rotate relatively and to move relatively in the axial direction and having a plurality of guide grooves for guiding a plurality of balls provided for power transmission, (b) a sleeve functioning as a wabble central member of wabble movement of the wabble plate, provided on the main shaft to rotate relatively thereto and to move in the axial direction and engaging with the inner ring movably in the axial direction, (c) an outer ring having a plurality of guide grooves for guiding balls at positions opposing respective guide grooves in the inner ring, supported on the sleeve wabblingly, supporting the wabble plate fixedly on the outer circumference and supporting a swash plate rotatably via a bearing, and (d) a plurality of balls held by the guide grooves formed in the inner ring and the outer ring and being compressed between the guide grooves to transmit power. While play in a uniform motion joint provided as the wabble plate rotation preventing mechanism in the radial direction and the rotational direction is suppressed, uniform and continuous contact of the plurality of balls operating for power transmission can be realized, and a compact, easy-to-machine and inexpensive wabble plate type variable displacement compressor exhibiting good durability and silent performance can be provided.

    • An apparatus is provided for transferring rotary motion into an isolated region. The apparatus includes first and second angled drive shafts each coupled to an opposite side of a collar via one or more bearings. A flexible seal is coupled between the collar and an isolated region (e.g., a process chamber) forming a first stage isolation region. The second shaft extends from the collar through the first stage isolation region into the process chamber. The first shaft extends through an end plate to the collar. An anti-rotation element is coupled between the collar and the end plate. As the first angled shaft rotates the collar wobbles causing the second shaft to rotate within the process chamber. Rotational forces which may be imparted from the shaft to the collar are opposed by friction induced between the collar and the end plate by the anti-rotation element. Thus, the collar will not rotate and the flexible seal will not twist. Accordingly the flexible seal may be made of an inexpensive material as it functions merely for isolation, and need not be configured to obstruct the collar's rotation.
