摘要： A method and apparatus for creating pre-stressed zones in concrete. In one embodiment, a circular blade is coated with a chemical which retards the setting of the concrete. The circular blade is then rolled through the wet concrete, thus transferring the retarding chemical from the blade into the concrete. The region of wet concrete that has the retarding chemical introduced into it does not set until after the surrounding concrete has set and shrunk, thus creating a pre-stressed zone which typically manifests itself as a crack, visible upon setting of the wet concrete. Other embodiments describe alternative ways of introducing the chemical into the wet concrete.

摘要： A manual tool for imparting a textured surface to a wall, ceiling or other rigid surface. The tool comprises a rigid, flat, thin tool blade, having a plurality of holes irregularly distributed thereon. The holes are preferably irregular in shape and have major dimension in the range 0.5 to 1.25 inch. A handle for grasping and manipulating the tool is attached to a first side of the tool blade. A rectangular blade version of the tool is used for texturing corner areas, and a circular blade version of the tool is used for non-corner areas. In use, joint compound is applied to a second, opposite side of the blade and then daubed onto a surface area. The tool is then repeatedly pressed against and withdrawn from the area until a desired surface texture is achieved, the texture becoming progressively finer with each repetition. After a drying period, the coated, textured surface is leveled by moving a leveling blade across the surface.

摘要： The present invention provides a method for forming a concrete surface having visual and tactile warning means for pedestrian traffic as well as for the users of wheeled conveyances produced by pouring a prepared concrete mixture into a concrete receiving form, floating the surface of the poured concrete, partially setting the concrete until a plastic state is achieved, covering the surface of the concrete with a release agent of a color different from the color of the concrete. Next, a stamp member is provided having a generally planar stamp surface interrupted by a pattern of indentations formed in the generally planar stamp surface. Additional colored release agent is applied to the stamp member and the stamp member is then positioned onto the concrete surface so that the release agent on the generally planar stamp surface contacts the release agent on the concrete surface. Pressure is then applied to the stamp member forcing concrete to flow into and fill the indentations, simultaneously causing intimate mixing of the colored release agent with the concrete flowing into the indentations. The stamp member is removed yielding a generally planar concrete surface superficially covered with color release agent and a pattern of projections of a shape corresponding to the shape of the indentations of the stamp member and being comprised of an intimate mixture of concrete and colored release agent. The concrete is set until hardened and subsequently rinsed, whereby the superficial colored release agent is removed from the generally planar surface leaving the projections colored with the release agent and contrasting with the generally planar surface from which the release agent was removed.

摘要： A method for forming non-repeating stone patterns in fresh concrete including preparing the surface of the fresh concrete by bullfloating and the addition of color, if desired, imprinting into the fresh concrete indentations representative of the corners only of the stones in the pattern, imprinting separately connecting grooves between the imprinted corners. The method may further include the use of a plastic overlay on the fresh concrete prior to imprinting so as to provide a well rounded edge to the formed stones. A number of tools for forming the non-repeating patterns are also disclosed. One of such tools is a walking tool including a flat platform having a plurality of apertures, a shaft rotatably extended through each aperture, a hub on each shaft below the platform on which the platform rests, a flange on each shaft engaging the top of the platform, a plurality of imprinting blades extending from each hub to form a group, the top of each shaft having an anvil head to be pounded, and at least one of said apertures being elongated to render one group of blades both rotatably and laterally adjustable for varying the stone patterns to be imprinted in fresh concrete. Other tools suitable for use with the method include an individual group of blades arranged in the form of the corners of the stone to be imprinted, together with a striking area by which the blades can be pounded into the surface of the fresh concrete.
