    • The die casting machine comprises a mold closing actuator capable of selectively inducing a closing pressure on first and second platens for forcing them towards a closed position in which their mold portions are pressed against each other along a parting line. An injection sleeve is movable relative to the mold portions between a distal position in which the injection sleeve and the mold portions are spaced apart; and an injection position in which the injection sleeve engages the mold portions at an inlet opening when the first and second platens are in their closed position. The injection sleeve applies a transverse contact pressure when it engages the mold portions. The closing pressure is unevenly distributed on the platens so as to compensate the transverse contact pressure to have a resulting effective molding pressure on the mold portions that is substantially evenly distributed across the parting line.

    • In order to reduce the size and weight of an electric die casting machine and make it possible to perform predetermined injection operation and intensification operation without the necessity of controlling the ON and OFF operation of a clutch for supplying motive power, the electric die casting machine is provided with: a screw shaft (5) which is held rotatably, a nut body (7) which is threadably mounted on the screw shaft (5) so as to be able to move forward and backward, an injection plunger (9) which moves forward and backward in conjunction with the forward and backward movement of the nut body (7); an injection electric servo motor (10) and an intensification electric servo motor (11) which drive and rotate the screw shaft (5); and a one-way clutch (12) which is disposed between the screw shaft (5) and the intensification electric servo motor (11), wherein: the intensification electric servo motor (11) is started up during deceleration control of the injection electric servo motor (10) in a high-speed injection step, and the torque of the intensification electric servo motor (11) is transmitted to the screw shaft (5) via the one-way clutch (12) so that an intensification step can be performed following the injection step.

    • A device is provided for controlling the advancing movement of a casting plunger in a casting chamber of a cold-chamber die casting machine by way of an actuating signal, the advancing movement comprising a chamber filling movement phase from a partial filling position, with a partially filled casting chamber starting volume, to a full filling position, with a filled casting chamber remaining volume. In the device, a respective associated progression of an actuating signal is provided for different specified sets of values of a plurality of process parameters that influence the movement of the molten material in the casting chamber during the chamber filling movement phase, which progression is defined as the most suitable actuating signal progression for the particular set of parameter values. The device is designed to use the most suitable actuating signal progression in dependence on values of the process parameters pertaining at the beginning of a casting cycle for controlling the casting plunger advancing movement during the chamber filling movement phase. The plurality of process parameters include at least one casting chamber geometry parameter, at least one filling amount parameter, at least one casting mold parameter and/or at least one casting chamber temperature or molten material temperature parameter.

    • A method of and an apparatus for high pressure die casting are disclosed. The method uses a die casting apparatus which comprises a group of three plungers for casting metal. The two of which, injection plunger 1 and assistant plunger 3, are used to reduce metal loading time and reduce entrapped gases in die casting during a fast injection stage. By moving into injection sleeve 2, the assistant plunger separates the mold cavity 11 from the space defined by assistant plunger 3, injection sleeve 2, and injection plunger 1. The flow power device for moving said assistant plunger 3 is mounded on a back plate 8. A third plunger, the intensification plunger 12, is used to squeeze casting as soon as the injection plunger advances to a position in which the runner is separated from the closed space. This separated injection and intensification systems eliminates slow shot speed and fast shot deceleration stages and can use a position-limiting switch to start intensification which eliminates the need for a complex hydraulic valve system.
