    • A spinal stabilization system, method, and a surgical kit having a surgical extender apparatus for implanting a surgical screw are disclosed. The extender includes a housing having a distal end and a proximal end, a hollow interior passageway disposed between the distal end and the proximal end, a channel disposed along an exterior surface of the housing at least partially between the distal end and the proximal end and configured to at least partially expose the hollow interior passageway, an interior locking mechanism disposed on an interior surface of the housing and substantially adjacent the proximal end, wherein the interior locking mechanism is configured to allow attachment of at least one surgical tool, and at least one flexible member disposed substantially adjacent the distal end. The housing is configured to accommodate placement of a surgical screw implant. The surgical screw implant is secured to the housing using a mating feature in the surgical screw implant. The at least one flexible member is configured to retain the surgical screw implant. The mating feature is configured to control axial movement of the surgical screw implant.

    • A driver for medical wires has a hollow drive shaft, rotatable about a rotation axis. The hollow drive shaft has a distal end and a proximal end. Furthermore, a plurality of clamping jaws penetrates under an angle into the hollow drive shaft close to its distal end. The clamping jaws are moved into or out of the hollow drive shaft by means of a jaw guide mounted slidable parallel to the rotation axis and movably connected to the clamping jaws. An actuator is provided to shift the jaw guide parallel to the rotation axis and therefore modify the penetration depth of the clamping jaws.

    • A bone fixing system useful for holding bone in position, and a method for installing the same are disclosed. The ends of a conformable ligature are passed around bones, bone grafts, tendons, plates, rods, fasteners, or other anatomical or implanted structures, and the like to form a loop extending from a first portion of the blocking body. The ends of the conformable ligature are passed through the blocking body and extend out a second portion of the body. The ends may be attached to a tensioning tool and a selected tension may be applied. A closure member may engage an engagement portion of the blocking body to create a friction force to hold the conformable ligature in place without significant movement relative to the blocking body.

    • A device (17) is provided for tensioning a flexible band (3) used to maintain a bone element on an implant. The device includes a rod (18) having a first end (19) provided with means (20) for bearing on the implant, a movable part (32) for hooking the flexible band onto a portion (28) of the device, and means (34) for adjustably locking the movable part in translation in relation to the portion of the device. The rod (18) includes a gripping handle (26) at the second end (27) thereof. The aforementioned portion of the device forms an angle α with the rod (18) to which it is rigidly connected at an intermediary point, the direction of the band being altered at an angle, and the aforementioned adjustable locking means (34) includes manual screwing means (35) for actuating the movable part.
