    • In a method of the invention for driving a display device including (i) a scanning line driving circuit for line sequentially selecting scanning signal lines and (ii) a signal line driving circuit including an output circuit for supplying electric currents, the signal line driving circuit configured to sequentially supply data signals to corresponding pixels on a selected scanning signal line via the output circuit and data signal lines, the method includes (i) outputting, in response to horizontal synchronization and vertical synchronization signals, a horizontal synchronization control signal shorter in cycle than the horizontal synchronization signal and outputting a vertical synchronization control signal, (ii) performing scanning for supplying the data signals to all pixels on the scanning signal lines within one vertical period defined by the vertical synchronization control signal and (iii) performing capacity control lowering capacity of the output circuit after the scanning has finished within the single vertical period.

    • A liquid crystal display device (1) in accordance with the present invention includes a first common electrode (11) and a second common electrode (12) in each pixel region of a display panel. The device (1) further includes delay circuit (A and B) for delaying the timings of polarity reversals of a first common electrode signal and a second common electrode signal which are respectively input to the first common electrode (11) and the second common electrode (12), said delaying being performed when the first common electrode signal and the second common electrode signal are subjected to respective polarity reversals in each horizontal scan period. The present invention thus provides a liquid crystal display device which, in a display device with wide viewing angle characteristics, lowers peak inrush current which is generated when the common electrode signal (common electrode voltage) is subjected to a polarity reversal.

    • An auxiliary wire, which can be connected to each of a plurality of data signal lines (Sn), is constituted by (i) a first auxiliary wire (17) provided so as to intersect the plurality of data signal lines (Sn) on a side where end parts of the respective plurality of data signal lines (Sn) are connected to a data signal line driving circuit (4) and (ii) a second auxiliary wire (18) provided so as to intersect the plurality of data signal lines (Sn) on a side of the other end parts of the respective plurality of data signal lines (Sn).
