    • There is disclosed an image processor including a display screen, a color image storage, a monochrome image storage, an image presenter, an image-area designator, a color-data replacer, and an outputter. The color image storage stores color image data constituted by a plurality of pieces of color data. The monochrome image storage stores monochrome image data obtained by converting the color image data and constituted by a plurality of pieces of color data. The image presenter can operate to present on the display screen a color image on the basis of the color image data stored in the color image storage, and a monochrome image on the basis of the monochrome image data stored in the monochrome image storage. The image-area designator can designate at least a part of at least one of the color image and the monochrome image that are presented on the display screen by the image presenter. The color-data replacer replaces one of the pieces of color data constituting the monochrome image data and corresponding to the part designated by the image-area designator, with another piece of color data. The outputter outputs the monochrome image data including the substituted piece of color data by the color-data replacer.

    • L*a*b* values of an original image are obtained by measuring 6,000 color patterns with a colorimeter. RGB data for the 6,000 color patterns is also obtained by scanning the 6,000 color patterns with the color copier. The colorimeter is used to measure an image, which has been printed by the color copier based on CMY data for about 5,000 colors that is generated by a personal computer, in order to obtain L*a*b* values corresponding to the about 5,000 colors of CMY data. Then, CMY data corresponding to the L*a*b* values for the 6,000 colors is determined based on the relationship between the CMY data and L*a*b* values for the about 5,000 colors using a triangular pyramid interpolating method, thereby determining CMY data corresponding to the 6,000 colors of RGB data. The thus obtained RGB-CMY relationship data for 6,000 colors is compressed into RGB-CMY relationship data for 729 colors, using triangular pyramid interpolation, to obtain a conversion table.

    • A thin film deposition system includes a vacuum or evacuated casing in which there is introduced an active gas or an inert gas or a mixture thereof. A filament emits thermions which impinge upon gas molecules to ionize them into positive ions. The ions bombard a target, from which particles are emitted toward a substrate. The particles emitted from the target are also ionized by the thermions. In the vicinity of a grid, more particles from the target are ionized by thermions which are vertically oscillated and ionized molecules of the gas. The ions are accelerated toward the substrate and bombard the substrate, thereby depositing a thin film thereon. The thin film deposition system may additionally have an evaporation source for supporting an evaporant which emit particles to be deposited on the substrate.
