摘要： The present invention provides a novel &bgr;-diketone compound represented by formula (3): [wherein X represents (CH2)n; n represents an integer of 2-20; and the CH2 of X may be replaced by an oxygen atom, a hetero ring, or an aromatic ring, but oxygen atoms are not sequentially arranged in X], and a metal-coordinated &bgr;-diketone compound in which a metal is coordinated with the &bgr;-diketone compound. The compound of the present invention can be easily synthesized, and serves as a catalyst for asymmetric synthesis which can provide high asymmetric yield and chemical yield.

摘要： A dictionary image renewing method in a fingerprint identification device registers images into a dictionary memory as multiple dictionaries. The method includes extracting images from a plurality of fingerprint images determined as being acceptable identification by mutual identification and using the multiple dictionaries to perform identification processing of entered fingerprint images. This includes successively identifying by comparing entered fingerprint images with the dictionary images registered in the multiple dictionaries, and when identification acceptance results with any one of the multiple dictionaries the one dictionary determined as being identification accepted is renewed to the dictionary image registered in any one of the remaining dictionaries. The remaining multiple dictionaries are renewed to the dictionary image extracted from the entered fingerprint images.

摘要： An orientation film for a liquid crystal display. The film is formed on a substrate and has a first irregular form repeated in a first direction and a second irregular form repeated in a second direction, which is perpendicular to the first direction. The second irregular form has a longer pitch than the pitch of the first irregular form. The profile of the second irregular form in any plane perpendicular to the first direction has a portion inclined with respect to the substrate. The pretilt angle of the orientation film is high. The patterns may be irregular and asymmetric, which may be ridges separated by a continuous groove. The orientation may be formed by using a first mold having one of the patterns, and a second mold with a second pattern, or first and second holographic exposed layers. The orientation layer may be a liquid crystal polymer which is formed by using a heated stamper to form a pattern in a high polymer liquid crystal while applying a voltage.

The fiber has a peripheral wall constituted by a plurality of relatively large rods, or strands, of the polyolefin which run substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the hollow-fiber and a plurality of fine fibrils which extend in the longitudinal direction of the hollow-fiber between adjacent rods and are connected thereto. Groups of rectangular fine pores are formed by the rods and fine fibrils. The hollow-fiber has groups of fine pores having uniform size and configuration and is excellent in selective separation capabilities.
