    • An apparatus for forming a pattern has a light-modulating unit, a scanner, a pattern data processor, a light modulating controller, a position-error detector, and a correction value calculator. The pattern data processor generates band-pattern data corresponding to each scanning band on the basis of pattern data matching a preceding pattern that is repeatedly and regularly formed on the photo-sensitive material. The position-error detector detects a position-error of the preceding pattern relative to a pattern area. The correction value calculator calculates an alignment correction value in each pattern area on the basis of the position-error, so as to overlay the pattern on the preceding pattern. The pattern data processor corrects the band-pattern data in accordance with the alignment correction value while classifying each exposure data of the band-pattern data into a corresponding pattern area.

    • A vehicle can have plural propulsion devices, at least two of which include number setting sections and number transmitting/receiving sections for transmitting their identification number and receiving identification numbers of the other propulsion devices over a network. When the number transmitting/receiving sections do not receive an identification number of another propulsion device from the network for a predetermined period of time, an initial value preset in the number setting sections is set as the identification number of the propulsion device in the number setting sections. When the number transmitting/receiving sections receive an identification number of another propulsion device from the network, an identification number different from the identification number of the other propulsion device is set in the number setting sections.

    • A watercraft propelled by an outboard motor includes an inspection system. The inspection system includes a terminal computer that conducts an inspection of an engine control device and a control unit. The computer includes a program that performs an inspection process that provides the control device with a command signal to start an inspection of the control device and that requests the control device to output a first response signal. The process determines whether the response signal is consistent with a first specified signal. The process provides the control unit with a command signal to start an inspection of the control unit and requests the control unit to output a second response signal. The process determines whether the second response signal is consistent with a second specified signal. The control device controls a throttle actuator and a shift actuator based upon the second response signal and provides the inspection system with an operating signal. The process determines whether the operating signal is consistent with the second specified signal. The computer includes an indicator panel or other display device to show the results of the determinations made by the inspection process.

    • A multi-exposure drawing apparatus for drawing a given pattern on a workpiece is provided. The apparatus uses an exposure unit with optical modulation elements arranged in a matrix. The apparatus comprises a first, second, and third memory, a coordinate transformation processor, a calculation processor, and an exposure-data generating processor. The first, second, and third memory respectively stores raster-data of the given pattern, first-coordinate data representing a position of each optical modulation element, and second-coordinate data representing a position of the exposure unit. The coordinate transformation is performed for the first-coordinate data. Address-data is calculated in accordance with a pixel size of the raster-data, and is based on the sum of the first and second coordinate data. Exposure-data generated by outputting the raster-data of the address-data is given to each of the optical modulation elements. The given pattern is drawn on the drawing surface as to the exposure-data.

    • In a drawing method, all information on a pattern to be drawn on a drawing surface, represented by first vector-graphic data of a drawing-coordinate-system, is transmitted to an exposure drawing apparatus having a plurality of optical modulation elements. The first vector-graphic data is converted to second vector-graphic data of an exposing-coordinate-system that conforms to the exposure drawing apparatus, and the second vector-graphic data is converted to raster-graphic data of the exposing-coordinate-system. Finally, the drawing surface is multi-exposed for drawing the pattern, based on the raster-graphic data to control the exposure by the optical modulation elements.

    • A multiple node network includes a plurality of terminal nodes. A management node at least initially manages the terminal nodes. The management node requests identification codes from each terminal node. Each terminal node responds with an individual identification code and then receives a physical address from the management node to establish communication. When a fault in the management node is detected while a terminal node is trying to enter communication, the terminal node assigns an arbitrary address to establish communication if the arbitrary address is not identical to any other terminal node address or after a predetermined amount of time has elapsed.
