摘要： The present invention relates to a recording medium containing moving picture data and additional information thereof and to reproducing method and apparatus of the recording medium. The present recording medium has script files including additional information about moving picture data, e.g., scene descriptive text and introduction of characters, etc. In addition, information linking each script file with a section of moving picture data to be presented with contents of the script file is included in a link data file or is contained in a filename of the script file. In reproduction of the recording medium, a script file linked with presently reproduced moving picture data section is determined and searched for based on the link data file or every filename of the script files, and contents of the found script file are presented together with the presently reproduced moving picture data. Furthermore, previously presented additional information is removed depending on data or filename of the found script file.

摘要： A recording medium, method, and apparatus for reproducing text subtitle streams are disclosed. A buffer initially preloads a text subtitle stream including a dialog style segment defining a group of region styles and first and second dialog presentation segments. A text subtitle decoder initially presents a first region of dialog text included in the first dialog presentation segment in a graphics plane and reads a continuous presentation flag included in the second dialog presentation segment, which includes a second region of dialog text. The text subtitle decoder presents the second region of dialog text by preserving the presentation of the first region of dialog text in the graphics plane if the continuous segment indicates that continuous presentation is required between the first and second regions of the dialog text.

The method for reproducing data of a recording medium using a local storage includes the steps of: a) reading a binding unit associated with a specific recording medium from the local storage; b) performing a binding operation for combining the binding unit with a file structure contained in the recording medium, and forming a virtual package including a playlist file capable of allowing a plurality of clips to be reproduced by a single playitem; and c) reproducing data stored in the recording medium and/or data stored in the local storage using the formed virtual package. Therefore, the original data recorded in the recording medium and the additional data stored in the local storage can be effective reproduced, resulting in greater convenience of use.

If downloaded data is stored in the local storage and enters an updatable state, it is updated to a local storage file structure. Therefore, recording medium data and/or downloaded local storage data are reproduced according to the formed virtual package.

摘要： A buffer initially preloads a text subtitle stream recorded on a recording medium. The preloaded text subtitle stream includes a dialog style segment defining a group of region styles and a plurality of dialog presentation segments, each of which contains at least one region of dialog text. Each region of dialog text is linked to a selected one of the group of region styles defined in the dialog style segment. The dialog style segment and the plurality of dialog presentation segments are encapsulated in a plurality of PES packets, respectively. A text subtitle decoder decodes and presents each dialog presentation segment according to a continuous presentation flag included in each dialog presentation segment. The continuous presentation flag indicates whether continuous presentation is required for each dialog presentation segment with previous one.

The pick-up unit reads main data recorded on the recording medium, and the local storage stores sub data associated with the main data. The sub data may include interactive graphic streams or text subtitle streams. The decoder decodes the main data and the sub data using a PlayList which includes a main path and a sub path. The main path contains a PlayItem for play-back of the main data, and the sub path contains at least one SubPlayItem associated with the PlayItem for play-back of the sub data in association with the play-back of the main data. The PlayList file further includes sub path type information which indicates whether the SubPlayItem included in the sub path is synchronized with the PlayItem.
