    • A focus detecting optical system including a condenser lens disposed in a vicinity of or rearwardly of a predetermined focal plane of a photographic lens, an image forming lens unit having a pair of image forming lens sections disposed symmetrically relative to a main optical axis, a light blocking member having an opening for regulating a luminous flux coming into the image forming lens unit, a first prism for refracting the luminous flux in a direction departing from the main optical axis, a second prism for refracting the luminous flux in a direction nearing the main optical axis and a light receiving element array. An image formed on the light receiving element array and formed of the luminous flux carried through the condenser lens, the first prism, one of the image forming lens sections and the second prism and an image formed on the light receiving element array and formed of the luminous flux carried through the condenser lens, the first prism, the other image forming lens section and the second prism are placed with a sufficient distance therebetween by working of the first and second prisms. A focus detecting operation is carried out by comparing these images.

    • A focus detecting device for a camera is disclosed which employs a CCD for producing an image signal carrying focus information. A monitoring circuit has a charge storing circuit for storing the charge generated from a light receiving element, so that the monitoring circuit monitors the amount of light received from the target object to be photographed and produces a charge signal representing the monitored amount. A reference signal generator is provided for producing a reference signal. Since the reference signal generator is defined by the same circuitry as the charge storing circuit, undesirable fluctuation in the charge signal will also be seen in the reference signal. Since undesirable fluctuation in both signals can be counterbalanced with each other, the comparison between the charge signal and the reference signal can be done with high accuracy.

    • Method and apparatus for measuring three dimensional information of a target placed in an interior space of a rotator type mirror by using the rotator type mirror in combination with an imaging apparatus disposed with its light receiving axis aligned with a center axis of the rotator type mirror. The invention includes projecting reference light toward the rotator type mirror from a position on the center axis, and scanning the target with mirror reflected reference light that is produced by reflecting the reference light on the rotator type mirror. The invention further includes obtaining the three dimensional information of the target, based on a physical quantity corresponding to the projection angle of the reference light and on a physical quantity corresponding to the position of a projected image obtained when the mirror reflected reference light that scanned the target is captured by the imaging apparatus via the rotator type mirror.

    • In a three dimensional measurement system, a three dimensional pickup apparatus picks up an object repeatedly to generate image information including a shape of the object, and an information processor receives image frame signals and digital signals from the pickup apparatus to process the image information. Image information is sent as image frame signals through a first output terminal, and digital signals are sent through a second output terminal in correspondence to output of the image information through the first output terminal. In the information processor, an input controller receives the digital signals from the first output terminal and receives the image frame signals suitable for transmission of moving images in correspondence to the received digital signals from the second output terminal. For example, the pickup conditions for a next period are set based on the pickup information obtained in a current period. For example, a distance sensor is provided further to adjust the pickup conditions in various ways in continuous pickup mode.
