    • Described is using a graphic processing unit (GPU) as a programming platform to implement radio communication technologies. A software defined radio platform is implemented via a graphics processing unit (GPU). The GPU includes modules, corresponding to kernels, that process an incoming bitstream (e.g., from a CPU) into baseband signals for output by radio frequency hardware. Example modules include a PLCP module, a scrambler, an encoder, a puncturer, an interleaver, a mapper, a pilot insertion module, an OFDM module, and cyclic prefix and/or windowing modules. Other example modules/kernels convert a received baseband signal into a bitstream for consumption by a CPU or the like. In one example, an IEEE 802.11a transceiver is operated by the GPU-based software defined radio platform.

    • The invention provides a method, an apparatus, and a computer program for supporting multiple connections to a network or a plurality of networks. Support for multiple connections is enabled by establishing a connection of a first type to a network, receiving a request for a connection of the first type, registering a virtual connection as a response to receiving said request, receiving a request for establishing a connection of a second type through the virtual connection, associating the virtual connection with the connection of the first type, and establishing the connection of the second type through the connection of the first type.

    • A system is provided for configuring an application for operation onboard a mobile node that includes a plurality of communication interfaces for accessing a plurality of types of networks. The system includes a network entity that can send a request for an application-specific profile for operating an application onboard the mobile node, the request including information identifying the application. In response, a profile server can create/retrieve an application-specific profile based upon the request. The application-specific profile includes one or more application-specific preferences and/or one or more application-specific settings, where at least one of the application-specific preference(s) and/or setting(s) can be interpreted into one or more policy rules capable of at least partially controlling selection of one or more of the communication interfaces of the mobile node during operation of the application. The application can thereafter be configured at least partially based upon the application-specific profile independent of user input.

    • A method for obtaining routing information relating to a routing path from a source node to a destination node among a set of nodes is discussed. The method comprises a step of sending a routing request from a current node, said routing request comprising information relating to a destination node location. At least one routing response is received in the current node, a routing response comprising information relating to a distance between a sender of the respective routing response and the destination node. A next node along the routing path is selected based at least on said distance between a sender of a routing response and the destination node. A node for an Ad Hoc network is also discussed.
