    • The present invention is directed to a cushioning apparatus for a pneumatic device. The cushioning apparatus generally comprises a body, wherein a piston and cylinder reside therein, wherein the piston is operable to translate along a first axis. A first port associated with a first end of the cylinder is in fluid communication with an interior portion of the cylinder through a first cushioning hole, and a second port associated with a second end of the cylinder is in fluid communication with the interior portion through a second cushioning hole. A first cushioning pin and a second cushioning pin are associated with the cylinder and the respective first cushioning hole and second cushioning hole, where the first cushioning pin is operable to enter the first cushioning hole and the second cushioning pin is operable to enter the second cushioning hole, wherein the entry of the first cushioning pin or second cushioning pin into the respective first cushioning hole or second cushioning hole generally limits a flow of gas between the interior portion of the cylinder and the respect first port or second port.

    • Novel methods for the in vivo production of phenol from renewable substrates using a recombinant microorganism (FIG. 1). Additionally, methods for the in vivo production of catechol and cis,cis-muconic acid from renewable substrates using a recombinant microorganism are disclosed. A host cell expresses at least one gene encoding a polypeptide that possesses isochorismate synthase activity, at least one gene encoding a polypeptide that possesses isochorismate pyruvate lyase activity, and at least one gene encoding a polypeptide that possesses salicylic acid decarboxylase activity. In the case of catechol, the host cell must additionally express at least one gene encoding a polypeptide that possesses phenol 2-monooxy-genase activity. In the case of cis,cis-muconic acid, the host cell must additionally express at least one gene encoding a polypeptide that possesses phenol 2-monooxygenase activity and at least one gene encoding a polypeptide that possesses catechol-1,2-dioxygenase activity.

    • Novel crystal forms of solid solutions of 2,9-dimethyoxyquinacridone and 2,9-dichloroquinacridone. The crystal forms may be formed by a process comprising the steps of: a) heating a mixture of 2,5-di(4-methoxyanilino)terephthalic acid, and 2,5-di(4-chloroanilino)terephthalic acid in polyphorsphoric acid at a temperature less than 1050 C to form a mixture of 2,9-dimethoxyquinacridone and 2,9-dichloroquinacridone; b) combining the mixture of 2,9-dimethoxyquinacridone and 2,9-dichloroquinacridone with water; and c) heating the mixture of 2,9-dimethoxyquinacridone and 2,9-dichloroquinacridone at a temperature not more than 110° C. Another crystal form may be formed by the process of heating a mixture of 2,9-dimethoxyquinacridone and 2,9-dichloroquinacridone in a polar aprotic solvent. These products are may be used for coloring fibers, plastics, paints, coatings, printing inks, color filters, cosmetics, automotive coatings, textiles, fibers, powder coatings, in-mold coatings, laminate films, and the like.
