    • An antenna apparatus which ensures a wide reading area on a reader antenna and a reading operability of information recorded in a small-sized radio frequency IC tag is provided. The apparatus includes an auxiliary antenna of λ/2 long disposed near to a radiating antenna of λ/2 long and including plural conductive elements in an array. When the IC tag approaches the auxiliary antenna, a subsidiary tuning circuit is formed between it and an inlet antenna of IC tag, so making tuning complementary to each other. The inlet antenna having an antenna length shorter than the tuning frequency can receive energy from the auxiliary antenna efficiently and is excited integrally with the auxiliary antenna to thereby spread a reading area by apparatus and increase the communication distance.

    • A small radio frequency IC tag which can obtain sufficiently long communication distance with radio wave in the microwave band even if an antenna is made small and the radio frequency IC tag is embedded in metal material. An O-shaped antenna is formed to narrow the width of a neck part in which an IC chip is mounted and widen the width of radiating electrodes constituting radiating part of radio wave. The radiating electrodes are formed into offset structure on right and left sides of the feeding point so that areas of right and left radiating parts of the feeding point in which the IC chip is mounted are unsymmetrical. Further, a ground electrode is provided so that a dielectric body is held between the radiating electrodes and the ground electrode and the radiating electrode is connected to the ground electrode at the side of the dielectric body.

    • An IC chip and a minute antenna for conducting transmission with a weak radio wave are mounted on a male connector. An auxiliary antenna for amplifying the weak radio wave emitted by the minute antenna and transmitting the amplified radio wave is mounted on a female connector. If the male connector is fitted into the female connector normally, then the distance between the minute antenna and the auxiliary antenna becomes 1.0 mm or less, and consequently the weak radio wave transmitted by the minute antenna is amplified by the auxiliary antenna and transmitted to the outside. Unless fitting is conducted normally, then the distance between the minute antenna and the auxiliary antenna becomes longer than 1.0 mm, and consequently the weak radio wave emitted the minute antenna is not amplified and transmitted. By receiving the information stored on the IC chip, the fitting state of the connectors can be checked.

In the disk medium, an annular slot constituting a non-film portion without metal film is formed close to the boundary between an information non-recording area and an information recording area. The area formed with the metal film is separated into an outer antenna portion and a second antenna portion. The second is a C-shaped member in which a central non-film area on the inner peripheral side and the annular slot are connected via a notch.     • A radio frequency IC tag includes an antenna substrate accommodated on a bottom portion of an outer casing and an antenna radiation portion mounted on a surface of the antenna substrate. These parts are encapsulated by a sealing agent. An IC chip is disposed at a substantial center on a backside of the antenna substrate. A ground pattern connected to an electrode terminal of the IC chip is formed in an area, on which the IC chip is not mounted. A through electrode passes through the antenna substrate from its back surface to above its front surface at a position slightly offset from the center thereof. The through electrode is connected to the antenna radiation portion on the front surface and to the electrode terminal of the IC chip on the back surface.
