    • First and second chambers are coaxially arranged and have substantially the same cross sectional area. First and second activated charcoal masses are respectively received in the first and second chambers. A labyrinth structure is arranged between respective first ends of the first and second chambers. An atmospheric air inlet port is provided by a second end of the second chamber. A third chamber is arranged beside the coaxially arranged first and second chambers. The third chamber has a first end positioned near a second end of the first chamber and a second end positioned near the second end of the second chamber. A third activated charcoal mass is received in the third chamber. A connector passage extends between the second end of the first chamber and the first end of the third chamber to provide a fluid connection between the first and third chambers. A fuel vapor inlet port is provided by the second end of the third chamber, and a fuel vapor outlet port is also provided by the second end of the third chamber.

    • A document feeder of the invention is formed of a sheet feeding tray for receiving sheets or documents thereon; a feeding device for feeding the sheets on the sheet feeding tray in order; and a feeding roller for feeding the sheets transferred from the feeding device in a sheet feeding direction and having at least one space extending in a direction perpendicular to the sheet feeding direction. The document feeder further includes at least first and second separating devices. The first separating device is formed of a frictional member having a frictional coefficient relative to a sheet greater than that between the sheets. The first separating device contacts the feeding roller and permits one sheet to pass therebetween. The second separating device is formed of an elastic member and has at least one tongue piece with a forward end. The forward end is located in the space of the feeding roller for separating the sheets between the forward end and the feeding roller. Therefore, when the sheets are separated, a back surface of the sheet is not smudged. Also, a misfeed or a double feed of the sheets does not take place, and separation of the sheets can be smoothly carried out.

    • A method for making fine powder of a metallic compound coated with ceramics is described. In the method, a gaseous mixture of at least one metal vapor constituting one component of a metallic compound and a carrier gas for the at least one metal vapor is passed at a speed of 50 to 2000 m/second into another element constituting the other element of the metallic compound or in an atmosphere of a gas containing the other element, which is heated to a temperature of not larger than 0.8 time as low as a melting point of the at least one metal so that the metal vapor and another element are reacted with each other while rapidly cooling, thereby obtaining a fine powder of a metallic compound. The metallic compound fine powder is further passed into other metal vapor or other metallic compound vapor to cover the metallic compound fine powder with the film of the other metal or metallic compound.
