摘要： The upper portion of a magnetoresistive film is interposed between insulators in the lateral direction of a recording track in a current-perpendicular-to-the-plane structure magnetoresistive element. Domain control magnetic layers sandwich the upper portion of the magnetoresistive film along with the insulators in the lateral direction. The insulators serve to establish a narrower path for electric current between the lower portion of the magnetoresistive film and an upper electrode layer. The substantial width in the lateral direction can thus be reduced in the magnetoresistive film. In addition, a longitudinal biasing magnetic field established between the domain control magnetic layers efficiently acts on the magnetoresistive film. In particular, if a free magnetic layer is included in the upper portion of the magnetoresistive film, the free magnetic layer can be subjected to a larger longitudinal biasing magnetic field. A single domain property can be realized in the free ferromagnetic layer enough. The Barkhausen noise can be reduced.

摘要： A processor means is connected with other individual means, and controls those individual means. Storage means stores data to be processed by the processor means and the resultant data after the process. An important data in the storage means is transmitted to other devices for evacuation by using a wireless communication means, when a situating condition of a portable information-processing device is judged abnormal (e.g., when being stolen) based on an output of a status detector means. The data in the storage means is deleted, when the transmission is completed or the transmission is interrupted. Protection of the data and the confidentiality are thus achieved even if the portable information-processing device is stolen, since the data can be evacuated, and the data is erased after completion of the data evacuation or if the data evacuation becomes not attainable.

摘要： In a fitting region for a SAW filter which includes langasite as its piezoelectric element, there are included an input side terminal electrode and an output side terminal electrode which are connected to an input terminal and to an output terminal of the SAW filter. To each of the terminal electrodes, at a position which is separated by just a predetermined distance from the fitting region of the SAW filter, there is connected a micro strip line which extends in mutually opposite directions along a direction which is parallel to the transmission direction of a frequency signal within the SAW filter. A slit is provided in the fitting region of the SAW filter and extends in a direction which intersects the transmission direction of the frequency signal within the SAW filter. A plurality of through holes are provided in the printed substrate and electrically connect together its surface and its rear surface which is grounded. Furthermore, there is provided a protective member which has a conductive surface and which is in contact with the surface of said filter, and said conductive surface of said protective member which is in contact with the surface of said filter is set so as to be of the same size as the surface of said filter, or so as to be smaller than it.

摘要： A storage system is disclosed comprising a management computer and multiple storage subsystems with multiple volumes accessible to a host computer. The host computer sends volume configuration information to the management computer. Each storage subsystem retrieves information from the volume directory corresponding to a requested volume and sends it to the management computer. The management computer comprises a volume information table holding the volume configuration information obtained from the host computer, information on storage subsystems, and use-related ID group IDs; a unit which identifies the volumes belonging to a specified group ID, locates the storage subsystems these volumes belong to, and obtains information on the desired volumes from their corresponding volume directories; and a display device which displays information on the usage of the volumes that is obtained from storage subsystems. Thus, volume information in multiple storage subsystems can be collected in an integrated manner, thereby reducing management overhead.
