摘要： Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to conflict handling for conflicts that occur in a peer-to-peer synchronization system, where the ability to correctly and efficiently handle conflicts minimizes data loss while retaining good usability and reduces the need for user intervention during synchronization. Conflict handling in the synchronization service is divided into three stages: (1) conflict detection; (2) automatic conflict resolution and logging; and (3) conflict inspection and resolution. Certain embodiments are directed to a conflict handling schema comprising one or more of the follow conflict handling elements: (a) schematized representation of conflicts; (b) detection of conflicts; (c) logging of conflicts into a durable store; (d) automatic resolution of conflicts according to a flexible and configurable azqsxqxwdconflict resolution policy; (e) composable and extensible conflict handlers to filter and resolve conflicts; (f) automatic detection and removal of obsolete conflicts; and (g) programmatic conflict resolutions.

摘要： Administering digital security is disclosed. Data and method items are stored on a computer system in a volume. The volume is divided up into non-overlapping security zones. Each item exists in a security zone. Security rules are granted to principals where the security rules apply to items in a particular zone. The security rules specify what principals have what rights; such as read, write delete and execute; to what items. Administrative rights can be delegated by principals by splitting a security zone to form two security zones. Principals who have administrative rights to the security zone assign additional principals to one of the security zones while maintaining all administrative rights to the other zone. Thus principals can retain certain administrative rights to certain items exclusively to themselves while delegating administrative rights to other items to other principals.

A user searches for relevant datasets by providing examples of the domains of interest. The system identifies datasets corresponding to the user-provided examples. The user provides known relationship examples to filter the connected subsets and to identify the connected subsets that are most relevant to the user's query. The selected connected subsets may be further analyzed by business intelligence/analytics to create pivot tables or to process the data.

摘要： Architecture that eliminates the need for on-disk full backups of data retaining only changes that have occurred, in a separate table. Thus, the architecture provides for incremental recovery of incremental changes in a relational database (e.g., SQL). The architecture provides improved recovery time and recovery point objectives. By using the incremental capture of changed data (e.g., in an XML format), the capability is provided to capture schema changes, query the incremental change data and efficiently restore user data to an earlier point-in-time state. Changes (e.g., insert, update and delete operations) are tracked (e.g., continuously) by a set of triggers and the incrementally captured changed rows are inserted in a data capture table (a differential change “delta” table) in a human-readable format (e.g., XML). Rollback is also provided.

Online database operations, such as, for example, SPLIT, MERGE, and DROP, are used to alter the arrangement of partitions in a federated database. A DROP operation shifts responsibility for rows of data from one partition to another partition and then drops the rows from the one partition.

摘要： Architecture for restoring nodes. After restoring a node, fix-up occurs to make the node appears as a different node than before the restore operation. The node appears as a new node, which new node knows the data up to a certain point from when the new node had the prior identity. This allows for new changes generated by the new node to flow to the other nodes in the topology, as well as have the changes that the prior identity sent to other nodes flow back to the new node. In other words, the architecture maintains information to create the new node in the topology while maintaining prior data knowledge. Additionally, item level metadata of associated data items is updated to correlate with the updated data items so that changes can be correctly enumerated and applied. This metadata update occurs across scopes of which the data items are included.
