摘要： An exhaust gas-purifying catalyst includes a substrate, and a catalytic layer facing the substrate and including a precious metal, alumina, an oxygen storage material, and a sulfate of an alkaline-earth metal having an average particle diameter falling within a range of 0.01 to 0.70 μm, the average particle diameter being obtained by observation using a scanning electron microscope. Another exhaust gas-purifying catalyst includes a substrate, and a catalytic layer formed on the substrate using slurry containing a precious metal, alumina, an oxygen storage material, and a sulfate of an alkaline-earth metal having an average particle diameter falling within a range of 0.01 to 0.70 μm, the average particle diameter being obtained by observation using a scanning electron microscope.

摘要： A hexagonal-cell honeycomb catalyzer is for purifying an exhaust gas. The catalyzer comprising a support that has a plurality of cells and a purification layer that has an HC absorption layer and a three-way catalyst layer. The HC absorption layer is formed on the honeycomb-formed surface of each wall of the support. The three-way catalyst layer is formed on the surface of the HC absorption layer. Provided that the HC absorption layer has a thickness a1 and the three-way catalyst layer has a thickness b1 at a thin portion of the purification layer of which thickness is minimum and the HC absorption layer has a thickness a2 and the three-way catalyst layer has a thickness b2 at a thick portion of the purification layer of which thickness is maximum, a ratio of a1/b1 and a ratio of a2/b2 are both within a range of 1/20 to 5/1.

An exhaust gas-purifying catalyst includes a substrate, a lower layer formed on the substrate and including a first composite oxide, palladium and platinum, and an upper layer formed on the lower layer and including a second composite oxide and rhodium. The first composite oxide includes cerium, zirconium, and an element selected from the group consisting of rare-earth elements other than cerium and alkaline-earth elements. A mass ratio of platinum with respect to palladium falls within a range of 1/50 to 1/20. The second composite oxide includes zirconium and an element selected from the group consisting of rare-earth elements other than cerium and alkaline-earth elements and has an atomic ratio of cerium with respect to zirconium smaller than that of the first composite oxide.

The durability of the exhaust-gas-purifying catalyst was improved by having the stabilized zirconia and cerium-zirconium composite oxide in the exterior-surface layer.
