    • A brake system with anti-locking and/or traction slip control is disclosed including a brake pressure generator, an auxiliary pressure supply system having one or more bypass-regulated hydraulic pumps, and electrically controllable multi-way valves in the brake conduits. An auxiliary pressure supply system is connected either directly or through multi-way valves to the wheel brakes and, through separating valves, to the brake pressure generator. Inserted in bypass conduits which are connected in parallel to the hydraulic pumps, are additional multi-way valves which are normally closed in the rest position but which are reswitchable to an open position and by way of which the pressure in the auxiliary pressure supply system is controllable to modulate the brake pressure in the wheel brakes.

    • The spherical piston pump comprises an outer stator and an inner rotor rotatable on a control pintle provided with supply and discharge channels. The rotor contains at least one radial bore in which is slidable a spherical piston including an outer ball, a cylindrical sleeve and an inner ball. The outer ball, sleeve and inner ball are not fastened to one another and can be replaced independently of each other. Annular sliding members made of low-friction and sound-damping material can be integrated into the ends of the sleeve, each of the sliding members being in line contact with the associated one of the two balls. The construction provides good volumetric efficiency even at high pressure and an improved overall efficiency of the pump.

    • There are known dual-circuit pressure control valves including a pressure control valve having a stepped piston for each of the dual brake circuits with each of the stepped pistons being subjected to a common control force by a circular compensation member. This known device is, however, insecure in its operation and expensive to manufacture due to the material used and the construction of the parts. These disadvantages are overcome in accordance with the present invention by providing a compensation member in the form of a solid of revolution whose radius of curvature is considerably smaller than the radius of curvature of the supporting surface. The control pistons are disposed in a V-shaped with respect to the compensation member.

    • In order to prevent an excessive braking of the rear wheels of the vehicle, brake pressure regulators are incorporated in the rear wheel brake circuit generally including a control piston and a control valve. To prevent the regulator from becoming effective upon failure of the front wheel brake circuit, a by-pass is provided which is opened by failure of the front wheel brake circuit. The known regulators of this type are expensive to manufacture and necessitate much space. The brake pressure regulator with by-pass of the present invention has the by-pass between the inlet chamber and the outlet chamber disposed in the control piston of the regulator. The by-pass terminates at one end of the control piston close to a closure piston subject to pressure from the front wheel brake circuit to maintain the by-pass closed as long as the front wheel brake circuit is intact.

    • A sliding guide arrangement to permit a brake caliper to slide relative to a fixed brake carrier. The arrangement includes a first pair of sliding guide members on one side of the brake disc axis and a second pair of sliding guide members on the other side of the brake disc axis. Each pair of guide members include caliper guide surfaces and brake carrier guide surfaces. The caliper guide surfaces are provided by surfaces of a rib portion or groove formed therein and the brake carrier guide surfaces are provided by prismatic pilots engaging the caliper groove. A spring is provided in contact with the carrier and the brake cylinder carried by the caliper to keep the guiding surfaces of the caliper and brake carrier in abutment with each other.
