    • A power distribution system comprises an input power line configured to supply power produced by a power source, one or more power distribution components operatively connected to receive power supplied by the power source, one or more intelligent system resources, and a power management component. Each power distribution component has one or more power outputs for distributing power along a power line connected thereto and is configured to modulate a carrier signal containing identification data along the power line connected to each output. Each system resource is operatively connected to receive power distributed by at least one of the one or more power distribution components. Each system resource is configured to receive and demodulate the carrier signal modulated by each power distribution component from which it receives power, generate a list of each power distribution component from which it receives power, and pass the list to a system bus. The power management component is configured to receive and process each list from the system bus to generate a mapping of the at least power distribution component from which each system resource receives power.

    • Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for managing computer power among a plurality of computers so that the aggregate power consumption does not exceed a maximum subscription amount, the maximum subscription amount comprising the maximum amount of power that can be supplied to the plurality of computers. Embodiments include monitoring, by a central power management module, aggregate power consumption of the plurality of computers; the central power management module and the computers coupled for data communications through a power management network; determining, by the central power management module, whether the aggregate power consumption exceeds a predetermined maximum aggregate power threshold, the maximum aggregate power threshold less than the maximum subscription amount; if the aggregate power consumption exceeds the predetermined maximum aggregate power threshold, throttling-down the plurality of computers, reducing the aggregate power consumption to a level below the predetermined maximum aggregate power threshold. Typical embodiments also include determining, by a central power management module, whether the aggregate power consumption is below a predetermined minimum aggregate power threshold; and if the aggregate power consumption is below a predetermined minimum aggregate power threshold, throttling-up the plurality of computers increasing the aggregate power consumption to a level that exceeds the predetermined minimum threshold.

    • A system for supervisor partitioning of client resources in a subnet communications environment includes a plurality of client nodes, each receiving an allocated set of resources determined by a central authority, which assigns resources to a supervisor key associated with each supervisor of the plurality of client nodes. At each of the client nodes, the allocated set of resources are partitioned using a local supervisor associated therewith, with each supervisor associating one or more resource keys with one or more resources allocated to the corresponding client node, and assigning the one or more resource keys to the one or more applications. The supervisor keys are configured so as to prevent a given supervisor from partitioning resources not allocated to the client node associated therewith. Following the partitioning, communication packets are issued from the one or more applications to a resource provider node without inspection by the corresponding supervisor.

    • A method of automatically invoking a recoverable and fault tolerant implementation of the complemented/recomplemented (C/R) error correction method without the assistance of a service processor when an excessive error is detected in main storage (MS) by ECC logic circuits. An excessive error is not correctable by the ECC. These novel changes to the C/R method increase its effectiveness and protect the C/R hardware against random failure. Further, if an excessive error is corrected in a page in MS, an excessive error reporting process is provided for controlling the reporting using a storage map to determine if a previous correction in that page has been reported. If it has been reported, then no further reporting of soft excessive errors is made for that page. A service processor is signaled in parallel to update its persistent copy of the storage map so that on a next initializations of MS the memory map can be restored in the memory. The memory map is used to assist the repair of failing parts of MS, and is reset after MS is repaired.
