摘要： This invention is directed to a process for making a salt of a carboxylic acid. The process comprises contacting a catalyst with an alkaline mixture comprising a primary alcohol. In one embodiment, the catalyst comprises a metal supporting structure (preferably a metal sponge supporting structure comprising at least about 10% by weight nickel) having a copper-containing active phase at the surface thereof and iron as a catalyst modifier. The supporting structure is resistant to deformation under the conditions of the dehydrogenation reaction. This invention is also directed to novel nickel-containing catalysts having a copper-containing active phase and iron as a catalyst modifier which may, for example, be used in the above process. This invention is further directed to processes for making such catalysts.

摘要： A surgical staple is provided having a base portion and a respective leg extending from each end of the base portion and terminating at a free end. The base portion is deformable to bring the free ends of the legs together to penetrate a liquid-carrying vessel at the site of a puncture and hold the opposite edges of the puncture together. The base portion and legs lie in substantially a common plane except for a center portion (40C) of the base portion which is deformed in a loop in a direction perpendicular to the common plane. The center portion of the staple allows the staple to straddle a blood locator tube projecting from the end of a stapler, so that the staple can be closed at the center of a puncture wound in which the tube is located. A method for stapling is also provided.

A rotatable member is mounted on the handle housing. The first moveable member and second moveable member are capable of simultaneously moving proximally relative to the handle housing.
