    • A method of performing a handover from a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) system to a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system in a multi-mode terminal having a WCDMA module and a CDMA module is disclosed. The method includes determining whether a handover to the CDMA system is necessary during a call through a WCDMA system; acquiring a pilot signal from the CDMA system by activating the CDMA module if it is determined that the handover to the CDMA system is necessary; receiving a sync signal if the pilot signal from the CDMA system is acquired; transmitting information for handover to the WCDMA system through the WCDMA module; allowing the CDMA module to enter a CDMA traffic state using handover information if the handover information is received from the WCDMA system through WCDMA module; and releasing a traffic state of WCDMA module.

    • An internal voltage generator includes a control section and a switchable internal voltage generating circuit. The control section generates a control signal in response to a bank activation command and a bank activation signal for enabling memory banks. The internal voltage generating circuit receives a reference voltage, and responds to the control signal to output an internal voltage equal to the reference voltage. The control signal is enabled when the bank activation command and the bank activation signal are concurrently enabled. The bank activation signal is generated in response to a partial array self refresh (PASR) signal. The internal voltage may be supplied to banks selected by the bank PASR signal, thereby enabling refresh operations in the entire bank, or an internal voltage adequate to partially enable refresh operations in all the banks may be supplied. Thus, unnecessary power consumption may be effectively controlled.

    • A multi-mode mobile terminal in an idle state switches between a CDMA system mode and a WCDMA system mode. If the intensity of a WCDMA signal is maintained below a threshold value for longer than a predetermined period in a WCDMA idle state, the acquisition of the CDMA system is attempted, and a WCDMA modem is deactivated if the acquisition of the CDMA system mode was successful. Alternatively, the acquisition of the WCDMA system is attempted at regular intervals in a CDMA idle state, and a CDMA modem is deactivated if the acquisition of the WCDMA system was successful. At least any one of the two modes can be maintained in an activated state when a mode is switched into another mode so that the duration of an interruption of service can be minimized.
