    • In a method of assembling a surface illumination system having an electromagnetic radiation emitting front side, at least one primary radiation source suitable for emitting electromagnetic radiation when operating is disposed on at least one mounting area of a flexible carrier. The flexible carrier has a front side and a back side opposite said front side, the front side of the flexible carrier defines a reference plane. The mounting area of the flexible carrier on which the primary radiation source is disposed is then bent out of the reference plane such that an optical axis of the primary radiation source extends parallel or obliquely to the reference plane. In a further step, at least one light-conducting guide having a radiation emitting front side and at least one incoupling region is disposed on the flexible printed circuit board so that in operation, the primary radiation source emits radiation into the incoupling region of the light guide and the radiation emitting front side of the light guide points in the direction of the radiation emitting front side of the surface illumination system. A corresponding surface illumination system is also described.

    • A matrix print head includes a magnetic yoke plate, magnetic pole defining cores annularly arranged on the yoke plate, electromagnetic coils mounted on the cores, a permanent magnet plate arranged in magnetic conductive relationship to the yoke plate; the yoke plate, the cores, coils, and permanent magnet plate establishing an electromagnetic assembly, there being additionally an armature assembly including an armature plate and a plurality of deflectable radially extending armature arms, the armature assembly being arranged in relation to the electromagnetic assembly such that the armature arms cooperate with the electromagnetic cores, there being print elements such as styli connected to the armature arms; the improvement disclosed is comprised of the following features, the armature plate and the armature arms are physically separated from each other but resiliently interconnected to establish a single uncritical parasitic air gap; and the magnetic yoke and armature plates are radially, inwardly recessed vis-a-vis the permanent magnet plate. A radially inwardly and outwardly recessed intermediate plate is interposed between the permanent magnet and the armature ring.

    • A guide member for print needles and a base plate with guide apertures traversed by the rear end of the needles are bolted to a magnetic core element, having annularly arranged poles; a cover is also bolted thereto, sandwiching a case in between. The cover centers an annular element having radial spring arms which hold one end each of a plurality of armatures respectively against the annularly arranged poles. The spring arm ends and the armature ends have interlinked, raised edges for obtaining a hinged link. The other ends of the armatures engage the rear ends of the needles. The annular element carries the respective electromagnetic coils and cores.
