摘要： A display apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a matrix-type liquid crystal panel and a switching liquid crystal panel, the matrix-type liquid crystal panel and the switching liquid crystal panel assembled together. In the display apparatus, a polarity of a voltage applied on an electrode pair of the switching liquid crystal panel is inverted once in substantially one vertical period or in one or more vertical period. With this arrangement, it is possible to reduce a number of bright line or dark line. This attains display quality improvement and power consumption reduction.

摘要： Laser beam irradiation spots are formed in a delta arrangement on a defective pixel present in a liquid crystal panel so that liquid crystal molecules in areas surrounding the irradiation spots are oriented vertically. Alternatively, an aligning film in a defective pixel is irradiated with a laser to form minute grooves in a different direction than the rubbing direction of the aligning film, whereby the orientation of the liquid crystal is changed so that the liquid crystal between the aligning films is no longer twisted. Thereby, a defective pixel present in a liquid crystal display panel can be made inconspicuous, and as a result, degradation of the display quality of the liquid crystal display device after correction can be prevented.

A timing controller (200) is provided with a register (22) that can store data indicating the length of a horizontal back porch when a shifting direction of a shift register within a source driver (300) is in a forward direction and data indicating the length of the horizontal back porch when the shifting direction is in an inverse direction. A source-start-pulse generation unit (21) within the timing controller (200) refers to the data within the register (22) according to the shifting direction of the shift register, and generates one of a first source start pulse signal (SSP1) for the forward direction and a second source start pulse signal (SSP2) for the inverse direction.
