摘要： A flexible surgical stapler assembly includes a staple firing head assembly and a handle actuator assembly connected to the staple firing head assembly through a flexible spine. The staple firing head assembly includes an anvil assembly defining an anvil surface which provides an array of staple forming depressions. A staple housing on the staple firing head assembly carries an array of staples to be formed. A staple pusher means on the staple firing head assembly is provided for exerting a force on the staples in the staple housing to eject the staples from the housing and form the staples against the anvil surface. The handle actuator assembly includes a housing which defines an inner cavity. A cable carrier is provided within the cavity and is freely slidable within the cavity. A length of flexible cable is connected at one of its ends to the cable carrier and at its other end to the anvil assembly of the staple firing head assembly. A trigger mechanism consisting of a lever is provided on the housing operatively connected to the cable carrier for moving the cable carrier and thereby concomitantly forcing the staples out of the staple housing to form the staples against the anvil surface.

There is also present a longitudinally extending alignment pin mounted on the stapler for movement between an alignment position with the alignment pin extending into the alignment aperture, and a release position with the alignment pin spaced from the alignment aperture, and a mechanism which is adapted to engage the cartridge assembly for continuously preventing the cartridge assembly from moving from the open to the closed position whenever the alignment pin is in a position other than the alignment position, and for preventing the alignment pin from moving from the alignment position toward the release position when the cartridge assembly is in the closed position.

摘要： An improved stapler firing assembly and a surgical stapler are disclosed. The stapler comprises structural members having handle parts with opposite sides and jaw parts projecting from the handle parts. The stapler includes a mechanism for releasable engagement between an elongate locking member and the structural members comprising a lever lock including a hook portion adapted to pass through a slot in a handle part. The lever lock is mounted on the locking member and includes first and second release buttons and actuating means mounting the first and second release buttons on opposite sides of the locking member for movement between first and second positions with respect to the locking member. The stapler firing assembly comprises a pusher adapted to move longitudinally along one of the jaw parts to sequentially press the staples against an anvil. There is also present a firing handle body having opposite end portions and a mechanism mounting the handle body on the pusher for movement relative to the pusher between a first position and a second position so that the firing handle body can be positioned to be manually engaged on either side of the handle parts to move the second end of the pusher along the second jaw to eject and close the staples.
