    • A hydrocarbon reformer system for a fuel cell system comprising a feedstream delivery unit (FDU) and a hydrocarbon catalytic reformer (CR). The reformer includes a catalyst disposed in a housing. Ahead of the catalyst is the FDU including a static mixer for receiving any or all of air, hydrocarbon fuel, anode tailgas, and steam. The mixer is pleated and perforated, forming a plurality of flow passages between first and second sides of the mixer. Fuel flows through the perforations and is jetted into the reactants at a very large number of flow passage locations, wherein mixing occurs instantly. Homogenized fuel/reactants leave the mixer in a sheet flow nearly uniform in temperature that enters the reformer catalyst and allows uniform catalysis over the entire catalyst surface.

    • In an SOFC stack system, wherein a CPOx reformer supplies reformate to the stack, a portion of the anode tail gas is recycled directly into the anode inlet of the stack, such that the fuel reaching the anodes is a mixture of fresh reformate and recycled anode tail gas and is present at a sufficiently high temperature that endothermic reforming of residual hydrocarbons from the CPOx reformer occurs within the stack. Preferably, an amount of secondary non-reformed fuel is also added to optimize the fuel mixture presented for internal reforming. The anode tail gas is hot, at the stack temperature of 750-800° C., which allows for the mixture of anode tail gas and secondary fuel to be mixed and reacted in a clean-up catalyst to react higher hydrocarbons in the secondary fuel, without additional oxygen, prior to being mixed with reformate and sent to the stack.

    • A fluid dosing device for a pressurized liquid is disclosed, which comprises a chamber (35) which is supplied with pressurized liquid by means of a liquid supply line (17, 19); a valve needle (9) which is guided through the chamber (35), the first end section of said valve needle being able to be lifted and the second end section thereof forming a valve in conjunction with a valve seat disposed on the housing (3). Metal bellows (33) are provided as a leadthrough element for the first end section of the valve needle (9). The metal bellows seal the chamber in said region in a tight manner. A throttle point (37, 39) is provided between the valve needle (9) and the inner wall of the chamber between the metal bellows (33) and the mouth (18) of the liquid supply line (17) leading into the chamber.

    • A fuel injector comprises a body having a longitudinal axis, a length-changing actuator that has first and second ends, a closure member coupled to the first end of the length-changing actuator, and a compensator assembly coupled the second end of the actuator. The length-changing actuator includes first and second ends. The closure member is movable between a first configuration permitting fuel injection and a second configuration preventing fuel injection. And the compensator assembly axially positions the actuator with respect to the body in response to temperature variation. The compensator assembly utilizes a configuration of at least one spring disposed between two pistons so as to reduce the use of elastomer seals to thereby reduce a slip stick effect. Also, a method of compensating for thermal expansion or contraction of the fuel injector comprises providing fuel from a fuel supply to the fuel injector; and adjusting the actuator with respect to the body in response to temperature variation.

    • Disclosed is a device for continuing detecting blood parameters. The device includes a catheter adapted to be introduced into the artery of a patient. A sensor is arranged in the catheter. A tube us adapted to be coupled to a vein of a patient and is also connected to the first catheter. A device controllably maintains blood flow across the sensor, the device being controlled such that initially the flow of blood to the first catheter via the tube is prevented so long as the detective blood parameters indicated a sufficient amount of fresh arterial blood is flowing around the sensor. In the event that a detective blood parameters indicate that an insufficient amount of blood flows around the sensor, then blood flow through the first catheter to the vein of the patient via the tube is then established.
