    • The disclosure describes a button wheel. The button wheel comprises a support frame including a pair of parallel opposed inner surfaces. A platform is nestably mounted in the support frame. The platform includes a pair of parallel opposed outer surfaces forming a pair of linear bearings with the parallel opposed inner surfaces of the support frame to allow the platform to translate from a biased rest position in a direction parallel to the opposed inner surfaces and the opposed outer surfaces. The button wheel also includes first and second spaced apart mounts fixed to one of the support frame and said platform. The button wheel includes a shaft disposed along an axis and including a first end rotatably engaged in the first mount and a second end rotatably engaged in the second mount. A wheel is mounted on the shaft and a rotation sensor is in operative communication with the wheel. The button wheel also includes a translation sensor coupled between the support frame and the platform.

    • A method of improving solvent vapor containment in a process for extruding a solvent-polymer mixture into a process vessel operated substantially at atmospheric pressure while continuously removing solvent vapor and polymer product from said process vessel is disclosed. The improvement involves connecting, by means of a passage, the process vessel with a containment tank, which containment tank is provided at the bottom thereof with means for solvent vapor removal and recovery. The top of the containment tank is provided with an atmospheric vent to ensure that the solvent vapor in the containment tank is at atmospheric pressure. The passage is further provided with a vapor siphon breaker to prevent siphoning of the solvent vapor from the containment tank back into the process vessel.

    • Systems and methods are provided for authenticating an input device subsystem for operation with a host. One method includes storing a table comprising challenges and a plurality of values indicative of authentic responses to the plurality of challenges. A selected challenge is then communicated between the input device subsystem and the host. A challenge response is derived based on the selected challenge and a hashing algorithm, and the challenge response is communicated between the input device subsystem and the host. The challenge response and one or more of the values is used to determine whether the challenge response is authentic. Functionality of the input device subsystem with the host is selectively enabled if the challenge response is authentic.
